Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new winner...want hier is de nummer 1 van vorig jaar. Als beste de finale ingekomen maar wat ging het daar heel lang heel moeizaam. Na 100 lijstjes stond Street Spirit slechts op een 6e plaats met maar liefst 150 pt achterstand en was ik er zeker van dat we een nieuwe winnaar zouden krijgen. Maar opeens werd er een geweldige eindsprint ingezet en kwam Radiohead dichter en dichter bij de 1e plaats, het verschil was op een gegeven moment zelfs minder dan 10 pt. Ik kreeg al een soort van Gary Lineker gevoel met het Duitse voetbal....ruim 100 man sturen hun eindlijstje in en op het eind wint Raidohead ... maar uiteindelijk toch het onderspit moeten delven tegen Morrissey. Een stuk minder top 5 noteringen, minder nummer 1 plaatsen en vooral een 6 tal plaatsen hogere positie op de love / hate lijst hebben er voor gezorgd dat Street Spirit dit jaar met het zilver genoegen moet nemen.

Eindelijk zou ik willen zeggen, eindelijk is het Morrissey en consorten gelukt om bovenaan onze top 2000 te prijken. En terecht denk ik. How Soon is Now was er natuurlijk al eens heel dicht bij, wie herinnerd zich het "dramatische einde van de MuMeLadder 2012" niet waarin ze gewonnen leken te hebben maar bleek dat 1 van de lijstjes "ondersteboven" was ingeleverd en verkeerd geïnterpreteerd was waardoor de herziening ertoe leidde dat ze uiteindelijk toch 4e werden (de verschillen waren dat jaar heel klein). En vorig jaar strandde dit nummer op de 2e plaats maar toen toch ruim achter Street Spirit. Dit jaar ging alles echter vanaf het begin crescendo voor How Soon Is Now. Al direct vanaf het begin op kop, af en toe zakkend naar plaats 2 (toen nog achter "het lichtje") maar continu sterk scorend en toen het heel spannend werd en Radiohead The Smiths bijna hadden ingelopen toch nog een klein eindschot waardoor het verschil uiteindelijk 27 pt bedroeg op het einde
