Het valt me vooral op dat er van albums van na pakweg 2000 vaak heel veel singles getrokken worden. Uit de losse pols zeg ik dat vier singles van een album in de jaren zeventig al een forse score was. Zes singles van een album was in de jaren tachtig en negentig nog vrij uitzonderlijk (vrijwel alleen bij megasterren als Michael en Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston en George Michael).
Daarna, vooral na 2000, werd het vrij normaal. Zou dat komen omdat je van zo'n release geen fysieke (vinyl- of CD-)single meer hoeft te persen? Je kunt een nieuwe single gewoon 'loslaten' via YouTube of Spotify. Het zal er ongetwijfeld mee te maken hebben.
