Dat hij in zijn jeugd veel naar Springsteen heeft geluisterd lijkt me wel duidelijk als je naar onderstaand filmpje hebt geluisterd. Maar met zo'n nummer kan ik me er geen seconde druk om maken. Zijn album Parish Lines is een album vol ruwe bolster blanke pit met af en toe een geweldige ballad zoals Curve Lounge. Rod Melancon is de naam.

Pas dit jaar ontdekt. Rich Hopkins timmert al meer dan 25 jaar aan de weg met zijn Luminarios en is vreemd genoeg in Duitsland erg populair. Een Duits label gaf hem vorig jaar ook de kans het prachtige album Tombstone te maken. Na deze op Spotify gehoord te hebben heb ik direct ook de albums Buried Treasures en Devolver besteld. Van Devolver hieronder het fenomenale Tender Mercies.

Mijn kennismaking met dit genre leek me een aardige aanleiding om weer eens wat te posten in dit topic. Onderstaand nummer van The Lancaster Orchestra vind ik eerder folk/pop. Het genre is breed zal ik maar zeggen en ik heb het wel leren kennen via Alt.Country. Het doet me denken aan een acoustische versie van Elbow, een band die ik hoog heb zitten. Niet heel verrassend maar wel fraai:

En nog 1tje die ik heb leren via de site Alt. country en die nog geen vermelding op Musicmeter heeft. Niet raar want dit nummer is afkomstig van zijn debuutcd. Ik vind het schitterend, mooi gezongen, mooi gespeeld en een heel fijne opbouw

Like their sometime tourmate, Alynda Lee Segarra of Hurray For the Riff Raff, the Deslondes are knowledgeable about multiple streams of American roots music. Downing even specifies in the band's bio that the traffic jam-themed rockabilly number "Less Honkin', More Tonkin'" was inspired not just by George Jones recordings in general, but Jones' early Starday sides, specifically.

Ja een 8! O nee, cijfers geven doen we hier niet meer. Toch grappig Vento. Ik kan me herinneren dat ik een paar jaar geleden hier een filmpje plaatste van Sam Doores & the Tumbleweeds. Dat vond je maar niks. Kan natuurlijk, maar weet je waar Sam Doores en die Fumbleweeds (zoals jij ze noemde) twee jaar geleden hun naam veranderden? Juist ja, the Deslondes. Misschien dat het liedje je niet lag, dat zal het wel zijn

Mooie muziek komt hier voorbij. Een intigrerend genre. Vooral iets voor de zomer, een zwoele avond in weken lang aanhoudende hitte.
