Ik hoop het ook. Sunbather is in mijn ogen zelfs een van de beste albums die ik ken, en heeft ook een plaatsje in mijn top 10 veroverd.

Mijn nummer 1 staat vast (wel in heel weinig lijstjes hier te vinden), nu nog de rest van mijn top 10 bepalen.
Eigenlijk wel raar, dat het me altijd redelijk makkelijk lukt om mijn nummer 1 te bepalen, de vorige jaren was dit ook al zo.

Deze plaat uit onverwachte hoek liet dit jaar alles ver achter zich. Ook na 100 luisterbeurten groeit hij nog, elke noot klopt en is raak, de muziek is troostend en zalvend en beukend tegelijk, en wordt live moeiteloos waargemaakt. Een diepe buiging.
2. Saåad - Orbs & Channels
Totaal onbekende Franse droneband (op het cassettelabel BLWBCK) maakt duister luisterwaar in de lijn van Deathprod, maar nog wat compacter. Intrigerend en onheilspellend en heel fijn om op de koptelefoon te luisteren.
3. Retox - YPLL
Kort maar heeeel krachtig fragmentatiebommetje van Justin Pearson (The Locust, Swing Kids). Verslavend...
4. Polvo - Siberia
Nog beter dan de vorige comebackplaat laat Siberia een virtuoze en zelfverzekerde band horen. Bevat enkele van de sterkste songs uit Polvo's toch niet lullige discografie.
5. Melt-Banana - Fetch
Deze Japanners stellen zelden teleur en maken me altijd blij. Fetch is één van hun sterkste platen. Bizar, spijkerhard, maar toch ook heel toegankelijk.
6. Föllakzoid - II
Muziek uit een triljarden lichtjaren van ons verwijderde nevel. Of uit Chili (in de Atacama-woestijn kijkt men het verst het heelal in). In elk geval: Über-space. Sterkste spacerock die ik in lange tijd hoorde.
7. Ducktails - The Flower Lane
Zomers en verslavend popplaatje van de gitarist van Real Estate. Sterke songs.
8. Fire! Orchestra - Exit!
Dit swingt echt als een tiet!
9. The Knife - Shaking The Habitual
Dappere plaat van de Zweden. Commerciele zelfmoord? Ik vind het in elk geval erg intrigerend. Soms krassend, soms iriterend, net zo vaak heel sterk.
10. Mountains - Centralia
Hele mooie, frisse, heldere plaat van het duo.

Ik ben helemaal verslaafd aan die plaat. Warme gitaren, synths, bedwelmende melodieën en een samenzang waar de Beach Boys en CSNY trots op zouden kunnen zijn.
Die nieuwe leadsinger doet daarnaast ook nog eens totaal niet onder voor de vorige. Integendeel zelfs...
De negatieve recencies kan ik dan ook niet begrijpen. Maar mijn muzieksmaak wijkt sowieso behoorlijk af. Zeker als ik naar andere top 10 lijstjes van Musicmeter gebruikers kijk.

Ik tel er daar toch 3 die ook bij mij hoog scoren Casper 
Ik ben ook nog wat aan het schuiven maar dan meer aan de onderkant van de top 10. De rest ligt wel zo'n beetje vast nu.
