Overduidelijk minder decennium voor mij. Bij de jaren 70 moest ik pareltjes buiten de top30 laten en nu haal ik zelfs met 3,5*-albums de dertig niet. In de lijst staan dan ook niet toevallig vooral ofwel reeds gevestigde helden (mannen/vrouwen van de jaren 70 of zelfs 60) ofwel nieuwkomers die uiteindelijk vooral met de jaren 90 geassocieerd zullen worden (Kravitz, Peppers, hiphoppers). Alleen Prince en U2 zijn echte jaren 80-helden die eruit springen. Niet de minsten, geef ook ik toe, maar voor mij ook weer niet zo goed als ze doorgaans geschat worden. Enfin, het blijft een leuke lijst .

Een aantal verschuivingen en met een tweede Eloy ook een hele nieuwe binnenkomer. Dit gaat ten koste van één van de twee Tears for Fearsen. Aanwinsten van het afgelopen jaar die in komende jaren wellicht nog eens een gooi doen naar deze lijst zijn Touch van Noiseworks (een gewaardeerd verjaardagscadeau van een medemusicmeteraar) en de albums A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window en On Land and in the Sea van Cardiacs, toch met wat goede wil een rauwe versie van Twelfth Night, die hier ook alweer een aantal jaar een vaste waarde is.

Voor mij een Ijzersterk muziek-decennium, waarin ik in het derde jaar (1982) geboren werd.

Ik heb hier meerdere uren aan besteed en nu het eindresultaat er is ben ik enigszins teleurgesteld. Waarom? Omdat er weinig variatie is! Enkele bands (Dead Can Dance, The Cure, ...) komen meerdere keren voor. Nu lijkt het alsof ik nauwelijks jaren 80 albums ken. Niet dat het uitmaakt wat voor indruk ik maak. Toch zou wat meer variatie geen kwaad kunnen.

Anyways... dit vind ik de beste 30 albums uit de 80's. Laten we het gebrek aan variatie maar wijten aan het topniveau dat enkele bands toen jarenlang haalden.
