Beetje cheesy allemaal, al is het nummer natuurlijk niet kapot te krijgen. Dave Grohl doet trouwens ook z'n best om als gevoelig koorknaapje over te komen

Kan een aardig voorzetje zijn voor Brian Wilson's nieuwe solo album "No Pier Pressure" dat klaar is om uitgebracht te worden.

Uiteraard met een commercieel doel is het toch wel weer geinig om te zien wie zich er allemaal voor leent. Gelukkig zien we Brian Wilson ook nog even in beeld komen.

Iets te glad en te rommelig. Maar ik kan er wel van genieten. Vooral van minuut 2.19 - 2.23. Wie is die vrouw eigenlijk?

Pet Sounds werd eergisteravond integraal live opgevoerd in het Concertgebouw door verschillende Nederlandse acts: Yorick van Norden, Clean Pete, Dandelion, The Kik, Mister and Mississippi,...

The Mike Love versie van the Beach Boys komt volgend jaar juni naar Raalte en schijnbaar ook naar Rotterdam.

Alleen Mike Love is er nog van de oude bezetting. Nou ja, je mag Bruce Johnston er ook wel bijrekenen. De enige nog levende Wilson mist en ook Al Jardine is er niet meer bij. Vind ik toch wel erg karig. Maar ja, het is in Raalte en dat is niet ver voor mij. Daarom twijfel ik nog een beetje, maar ik denk dat ik het aan mij voorbij laat gaan.

Armoedig dit soort line-up's.
Toen Brian afhaakte eind jaren 60, waren er in ieder geval nog de twee andere broers.
Die zijn er niet meer triest genoeg, maar als de grote bedenker er al niet mee bij zit....tja

Mike Love mag het juridisch gewoon allemaal doen.
Ik verwacht dan ook dat de backing band perfect de samenzang na bootst.

Het zou niet armoedig zijn als de rest er geen zin in zou hebben gehad of er niet meer zouden zijn geweest. Op deze manier is het inderdaad armoedig. En dat terwijl het plezier er van afspatte bij de Reunietour in 2012. Ik dank God dan ook op m'n knieeen dat ik ze toen gezien heb in Lokeren. Once in a Lifetime. En vind het erg jammer dat het wederom treurig is verlopen. Het contract was uitgediend, okee, maar Mike Love had ze makkelijk een nieuw contract aan kunnen bieden. Mogen touren met Brian, Alan, Bruce, David, Jeffrey en the Wondermints is toch het mooiste wat er is voor iemand die niet meer kan dan rammelen met een tambourijn.

Mike Love's Beach Boys gaan optreden bij de inauguratie van Trump. Veelzeggend. Ik had voor dat dit nieuws kwam overigens al besloten de shows in Nederland over te slaan.

Er wordt hier in het noorden van het land geadverteerd dat The Beach Boys naar het Raalte's Ribs & Blues Festival komen. Is dat ook het Mike Love vehikel?

Het is best een aardig bandje. Bruce Johnston zit er ook bij.

1967 - Sunshine Tomorrow komt eraan. Best een leuke verzamelaar lijkt me met wat live momenten en alternatieve opnamen ten tijde van de Wild Honey / Smiley Smile sessies.

Klinkt goed. De draad na The Smile Sessions word opgepakt. Een interessante periode.
