Jammer, dit betekent dat ik 5 zekere top 50 kandidaten moet schrappen van m'n shortlist. Zou toch denken dat de nummers 36 t/m 50 van de jaren 10 die op ongeveer 10 nominaties konden rekenen hier in het eindspel ook wel een noemenswaardig puntenaantal kunnen halen. Vorig jaar werden de 10s in het eindspel op 1 album na (Beck - Morning Phase) allemaal tenminste 3x genoemd.
Ik verwacht ook niet dat de overige 35 albums uit de 10s nu veel beter gaan scoren.

Ach Gretz omgerekend is het wel logisch.
Misschien zouden die " versere" albums nog wel redelijk kunnen scoren omdat ze nog fris tussen de oren zitten.
Ik kan mij prima vinden in de indeling van Chevy .

Tsja wat is logisch, het zou goed kunnen dat er in de 10s op dit moment al meer albums zijn uitgebracht dan in de jaren 60 of 70. Dat de jaren 50 niet met 50 kandidaten meedoen kan ik nog begrijpen, maar de 10s scoren nog wel redelijk.

Opvallend trouwens dat van de 60s maar 1 van de 50 album voor 1965 is uitgekomen. Het eerste deel van dat decennium wordt dus nauwelijks serieus genomen.

Nee toen ontstonden de vreemdste producten

Ik mis eigenlijk alleen Spinvis - Trein Vuur Dageraad (2017) in mijn Top 50 die zou daar rond plek 35 ingekomen zijn. Dat zou dan de 2e uit de 201x's zijn geworden.

Er staat in elk geval veel te veel Marillion in de lijst

Dat betwijfel ik. Vorig jaar stonden 30 van de 50 albums buiten de top 200.

Van de 325 albums zijn er 308 minimaal 3 keer genoemd, dus zo bijzonder is dat niet.

Geen idee. Vorig jaar presteerde de 10s wel boven verwachting goed. In 2015 stonden er welgeteld 2 albums uit de 10s in de top 100. Het jaar daarvoor waren het er 3.

Het gaat mij niet om de kwantiteit, maar om de vraag in hoeverre een album daadwerkelijk goed genoeg bevonden kan worden om in de toplijst te komen. Soms haalt een album het alleen omdat het in een ander decennium gemaakt is. Bij de 60s/70s speelt hetzelfde. Sommige artiesten die in de 60s de lijst halen, brachten in de 70s evengoed goede muziek uit, maar door hevigere concurrentie halen ze het daar niet. Een goed voorbeeld is Simon & Garfunkel, die in de 60s met Parsley etc. de lijst wel haalt, maar in de 70s niet met Bridge Over Troubled Water. Desalniettemin scoren de 60s-albums nog altijd beduidend beter dan de 10s-albums. De 60s worden 10% vaker genoemd en scoren 20% beter. In 2015 was dit zelfs 60% vaker genoemd, met 70% meer punten. Toen scoorden de 60s even goed als de 00s. De vraag is dus welk jaar representatiever is, maar dit jaar zal blijken of de 10s de goede prestaties van vorig jaar kunnen vasthouden.

(edit: komt overigens vooral door nieuwe populaire albums, met Blackstar, Carrie & Lowell, To Pimp a Butterfly en Hand. Cannot. Erase. als belangrijkste exponenten)

Maar het belangrijkste, fundamentelere, argument is dat de 10s simpelweg nog niet klaar zijn. 35 van de 50 komt aardig overeen met hoe ver we in dit decennium gevorderd zijn. En niet geheel toevallig is de lijst nu exact 300 albums lang.

P.S. Ik ben het met je eens dat de 60s wellicht ook oververtegenwoordigd zijn, want ook daar zit de staart weer redelijk ver achter de staart van de 70s/80s/90s.

Geweldige band natuurlijk, maar meer dan The Beatles, The Stones, Bowie of Dylan lijkt wel wat overdreven

Tsja, er schijnen dus meer fans van Marillion op deze website te vertoeven, of in elk geval deel te nemen aan deze spellen, dan van genoemde bands/artiesten

Maar als je nominaties van die die artiesten bij elkaar optelt dan moet aan de andere kant de weegschaal met Marillion + Steven Wilson wel ongeveer in evenwicht zijn

Marillion weet dat de houdbaarheidsdatum van een band slechts 10 jaar is, dus zij hebben het goed verspreid over de decennia. Iedere 10 jaar een klapper en daartussen wat aanrommelen.

Overigens eindigt Marillion doorgaans aanmerkelijk hoger dan The Stones en Bob Dylan.
Als je vorig jaar een toplijst had gemaakt van de albums van die drie, zou Marillion vier keer in de top 5 staan.

Ah , ok net als Dylan vanaf de jaren tachtig.

Dat is een weegschaal die ik niet in huis heb.
Meestal wordt hier gesproken over Radiohead of The Smiths als meest overschatte bands op MuMe, maar als je deze lijst zo ziet komt voor die titel maar één band in aanmerking.

ze zijn wel het vaakst genoemd, met PT / Steven Wilson als goede 2e

Op dit moment doen ze het op voetbal landenteams gebied een stuk beter dan de mannen

Als ik zo eens naar de andere lijsten kijk breng ik het er inderdaad helemaal niet slecht vanaf. Er zijn zelfs mensen die het presteren vijftig volledig mannelijke acts in hun lijst op te nemen. Daarnaast scoor ik vrij goed op diversiteit in genres.

Te prijzen valt dat jij een hoge BF (black/brown factor) hebt - de meeste lijstjes hier zijn te erg MWCP (w = white) voor woorden. Fijn dat we tot in september de tijd hebben; tijd om alles nog op een rijtje te zetten
