Gretz was net op tijd met lijstje 96. Het laatste lijstje, want ik heb zojuist de laatste lijstjes verwerkt, alles nagelopen en Excel aan het werk gezet. De lijst is (bij mij) bekend en het resultaat mag er zijn!
Welke albums bovenin staan, hoor je zondag op Orinoco (waarover later meer info...), maar ik kan alvast verklappen dat het verschil tussen de nummer 50 en 51 welgeteld één punt is. Ter vergelijking: voor een notering op plaats 50 krijgt een album al 37 punten. De nummer 51 komt van buiten de top 100, maar stijgt dus net niet genoeg. Ook de nummer 52 is best een pechvogel, want die miste vorig jaar ook al net de top 50.
Overigens kunnen alle albums bovenin op veel steun rekenen, want op twee na zijn alle albums minimaal 20 keer genoemd. Tellen heeft geen zin, want er zijn ook albums met (ruim) 20 stemmen die de boot missen.

Drie uur later zal Grafmat om 16.30 de presentatie overnemen en jullie tot een uur of 8 ’s avonds dik de top 20 inbrengen. Waarna ondergetekende de uitzending zal afmaken. Zo rond 23.15-23.30 zal de nummer 1 bekend zijn/gedraaid worden.

Nee, want de populariteit van Arcade Fire is al +3 jaar aan het afnemen. Fans van The Cure lijken me toch iets trouwer.

Zwak, met net als vorig jaar geen album dat dicht in de buurt komt van de top 50. 25 extra ingeleverde lijstjes is ook in het nadeel van deze niche-band.
Gaat Radiohead weer tweemaal het podium bestijgen?
Ja, want Radiohead doet het altijd relatief nog nét iets beter in zo'n groot deelnemersveld waar de voorselectie al gemaakt is. Er zijn ook flink wat meer users die een lijstje hebben ingediend, zeker ook in het voordeel van de mastodont.
Etc. Etc.
Gaat The National weer met twee albums in de top 50 eindigen?
Jazeker. High Violet duikt de top 40 in en Boxer zelfs de top 25 (nog altijd veel te laag wel als je het afzet tegen hun posities in de Album Top 250).
Zal ★ dit jaar het populairste Bowie album worden?
Dat nog niet, maar het gat met The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars en Low wordt al wel grotendeels gedeeld. Ik zie ★ op termijn wel uitgroeien tot de nummer 1.
Hoogste Beatles album?
Revolver, net als voorgaande jaren. Maar deze plaat zakt wel weer weg uit de top 10.

Een prognose top tien ook nog 's. Met toch weer stijgende verbazing heb ik al jullie noeste arbeid bekeken. Ik ga niet het aloude argument opgooien dat muziek en ranglijstjes (beter/slechter) botsten en zeker niet hier 
. Ook al niet omdat ik toch weer een aantal artiesten en albums eruit pik die ik om wat voor reden gemist heb.
Erg leuk, bij deze dan ook dank aan alle (tenminste die van de laatste 3 pagina's) inzenders

Kan natuurlijk niet dat er maar één album van Creedence op de shortlist heeft gestaan. Dat is echt ridicuul in mijn ogen. De waarde van deze band wordt schromelijk onderschat hier op MuMe klaarblijkelijk. Voor de rest niets dan lof voor dit initiatief, helaas was ik te laat om deze onmogelijke lijst te maken.

De onderschatting van CCR hier op MM valt me nog mee ,nr 63 in de artiesten Top 100 ,en een stemgemiddelde van 3.91* (wat mij betreft nog te laag) ,en Cosmo's Factory met een stemgemiddelde van 4.20* mogen we eigg nog niet klagen
Wat ik met je deel ...ook ik mis hier in dit spel minimaal 4 CCR albums in de keuzelijst
Zo mis ik overigens wel meer Klassealbums van andere artiesten ( o.a Byrds ,the Band ,the Who enz)

Dit klopt niet helemaal wat je zegt. De shortlist is tot stand gekomen door per decennium een apart spel te organiseren. Artiesten als CCR, Byrds, The Band, The Who hebben dus niet te lijden onder het feit dat jongeren zoals ik meer hebben met de muziek waarmee ze zelf zijn opgegroeid. De 60s/70s albums die het niet gehaald hebben tot de beste 50 hebben last gehad van te sterke concurrentie uit het eigen tijdperk.
Verder zijn het juist de albums uit de 21e eeuw die hier in het eindspel al jaren relatief slecht scoren, kijk de statistieken er maar op na. Zoals in wel meer MuMe spellen boeren vooral jaren 80 erg goed.

De eerste debutant dit jaar is er eentje waarvan ik het altijd vreemd heb gevonden dat die nooit de top 50 wist te halen. Het is per slot van rekening de nummer 45 uit de ‘grote’ top 250. Maar dit jaar was alles anders. Heel steady onderin de top 50 te vinden.
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness doet het overigens ook niet verkeerd met plek 152.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness doet het overigens ook niet verkeerd met plek 152.

Dat hij na de deceptie van vorig jaar volledig terug kan komen en zelfs de beste prestatie ooit aflevert, doet mij dan ook veel deugd. En aangezien er toch vaak een artificiële competitie is tussen de King of Pop en de Prince of Pop (of is dat alleen in mijn hoofd?) kan ik ook alvast melden dat dit de eerste keer is dat eerstgenoemde deze ‘strijd’ wint. Prince mist dit jaar dus de top 50. Zowel Sign O the Times (52e, vorig jaar nog 51e) als Purple Rain (58e) weten het nét niet te redden.

Van een vertrouwde kandidaat naar een debutant. Ondanks dat An End Has a Start al een hele tijd top 100 heeft gescoord, had ik nooit verwacht dat de stap naar de top 50 gemaakt zou kunnen worden. Wellicht mede door een succesvolle recente tour, maar Editors debuteren in de top 50. En ruim ook.

Ik ga al snel vergelijken met de Album Top 250, en dan scoren de toppers uit de 00s en 10s wel vrijwel allemaal relatief matig. High Violet (40 / 22), Boxer (33 / 10), Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (37 / 27), Kid A (41 / 17). Verrassend genoeg doet An End Has a Start het nog wel bovenmatig goed.

Zo verrassend dat ik de daling van The Colour Of Spring vind zo ook (wat mijn eigen nominaties betreft) de mooie winst voor Thriller en The Kick Inside ,dat is dan weer een positieve ontwikkeling

Volgens mij zeg ik dit ieder jaar, maar Five Leaves Left maakte een flitsende start, stond lang in de top 10 en zakte toen weer weg. Datzelfde gold voor Pink Moon (die bij de eerste tussenstand ook in de top 10 stond), maar uiteindelijk zelfs wegzakte naar plek 80. Om de statistieken compleet te maken: Bryter Layter is 132e geworden en daarmee is Pink Moon voor het eerst sinds 2013 weer het album achter Five Leaves Left. Het album dat het dus wel gehaald heeft.

Soms is er gewoon niets boeiends over een album te zeggen. Nou ja, muzikaal is er natuurlijk genoeg te zeggen, want het is een fenomenaal album. Verder volsta ik door te zeggen dat New Gold Dream wederom ruimschoots de lijst heeft gehaald.

Volgens mij zeg ik dit ieder jaar, maar Five Leaves Left maakte een flitsende start, stond lang in de top 10 en zakte toen weer weg. Datzelfde gold voor Pink Moon (die bij de eerste tussenstand ook in de top 10 stond), maar uiteindelijk zelfs wegzakte naar plek 80. Om de statistieken compleet te maken: Bryter Layter is 132e geworden en daarmee is Pink Moon voor het eerst sinds 2013 weer het album achter Five Leaves Left. Het album dat het dus wel gehaald heeft.
