Vorig jaar was ik de enige met Dry Cleaning's Magic of Meghan (die zelfs de top 6 in mijn jaarlijst haalde) en nu halen ze met een veel minder nummer zelfs de weeklijst? Wordt deze gedraaid op de radio ofzo?

Denk dat Song van het Jaar de grootste invloed heeft? Zelf heb ik het nummer gevonden via een Spotify-afspeellijst met nieuwe muziek (#2020 van Thijs Schrik). Ik ken Magic of Meghan niet, maar ga eens luisteren. Bedankt voor de tip!

Ah, ik kom de laatste tijd niet meer toe aan Song van het Jaar. Doet ie het daar goed blijkbaar.

Vorig jaar deed ik helemaal niet mee aan SvhJ, anders had ik 'Meghan' daar wel genomineerd.

Nu ik er over nadenk voor mij ook de laatste lijst van het jaar deze week. Time flies!

Voorronde-ladderwinnaar, dus dat gaat prima. Hopelijk stoomt het nummer door naar de finale.

Ik herontdekte Dry Cleaning via de alternatieve top 152 op MuMe waar Magic of Meghan meedeed (en doet trouwens want eerste ronde glansrijk gewonnen)
Ze bleken al een klein hitje vorig jaar bij mij gehad te hebben maar had er verder weinig aandacht mee aan besteed tot toen dus.

Leuke stats AstroStart. Hoop zelf ook met zo'n overzicht te komen, als het niet al teveel werk kost

Billie Eilish stond in 2019 al het respectabele aantal van 6 weken op nummer #1. Dit jaar overtreft ze die prestatie met gemak, met nu in week 50 al het dubbele aantal weken aan kop (12!). Hiermee is ze in sneltreinvaart opgestoomd naar de tweede plaats op de ranglijst van meeste weken op #1. Grimes moet dus serieus gaan uitkijken dat ze de koppositie niet verliest.

Een mens is natuurlijk altijd tevreden met z'n nieuwe binnenkomers, na het altijd wat tijdrovende proces van selecteren.
Maar erg blij, met name met Don't bring Stacey, Bugs en de Engelse band The K's.

We zijn al weer aan de een na de laatste lijst van het jaar bezig, het zullen dus ongetwijfeld de hits van 2021 moeten gaan worden. Wat dat betreft kunnen we het jaar vol vertrouwen tegemoet zien.

Je denkt altijd dat de oudjes passé zijn. En dan is er altijd wel weer een AC//DC die weer opstaat "uit de dood". Met een single die dan weer klinkt alsof het geen 42 jaar na Whole lotta Rosie is geweest. Nu ja, vooruit, iets minder dan.
Daarom benieuwd wat 2021 weer weet te brengen en vooral natuurlijk de verassingen.

Een nieuwe nummer 1 voor een nog onbekend en mysterieus trio genaamd Sault. Zij maken acid-jazz met R'n'B


Funk met de hoofdletter F, Tower of power is al 52 jaar bekend. Zij stijgen naar nummer 2.


De oude nummer 1 daalt naar nummer 3, London grammar met hun dromerige triphop.
4 _ nieuwe binnenkomers voor; Garmarna, Mulatu Astatke + Black Jesus experience, Sparks en een re-entry van Danny Vera.
10 stippen
4 superstippen voor; María José Llergo, Anderson .Paak + Rick Ross, Foo fighters en Garmarna.
Nothing but thieves staat met 11 weken het langst in de lijst en vinden we dus ook heel hoog in de Eigenwijze Eindejaarslijst die 28 december wordt uitgezonden.

The Wytches uit Brighton zijn rockers die geen enkele poging doen modern of Brits te klinken.
Wel donkere garage-riffs en explosieve noise.

Wytches even aangeklikt, explosieve noise heb ik gemist. Maar misschien is mijn referentie anders

Noise element bij The Wytches id minder aanwezig op deze singel, meer op andere album-tracks.
Als aandacht erdoor gecreërd is ben ik al bij.

week 51 van 2020 - De laatste weeklijst van het jaar, volgende week jaaroverzicht en week daarna is het al 2021. En toch nog een nieuwe nummer 1, kan er niet omheen. Beau danst op nummer 1 het jaar uit.
In de top 10 2 sterke kerst-stijgers, kijken hoe lang die het volgend jaar volhouden.
Dan ook nog 5 binnenkomers, geen nieuwe kerstliedjes daarbij.
Hoogste nieuwe is voor Steady Holiday, de artiestennaam van Andrea Babinski uit L.A. Een vrolijk klinkend liedje met al net zo vrolijke clip. De tekst impliceert wel minder vrolijkheid overigens. Uit de discover weekly van spotify.
Het eerste wat ik van Slow Pulp zag en hoorde was een KEXP sessie, zeker geen verkeerde kennismaking. De band komt uit Chicago en maakt vrij rustige maar wel erg interessante muziek met ook wel wat scherpe randjes. Slow ja, pulp nee.
Labasheeda bracht eerder dit jaar een nieuw album uit en daarvan nu de 2e clip. Lekker noisy gitaarplaatje.
Palberta leert het schrijven van langere liedjes steeds beter. De vorige duurde welsiwaar ruim 3 minuten maar begon het outro al na nog geen 1½, deze lijkt meer op een volwaardige 3 minuten nummer. Muzikaal blijft het licht verteerbaar.
Soms werken adevertenties, heel soms. De clip van Catbird, uit Australie, stond als advertentie tussen m'n facebook posts, toch eens aangeklikt en ja, dat bevalt wel. Beetje folky en erg tekstueel verantwoord is de clip opgenomen in een gebied dat door een bosbrand is verwoest en langzaam weer terug begint te groeien.

Week 51
- Ondanks het aanbod toch weer een mooie lijst weten samen te stellen. Allereerst de Kersthit van het alter ego van Daniël Lohues. Fijn nummer met veel synths.

- Daarnaast ook een fijne cover van Ramones door Alex Lahey. Hun Kerstklassieker heb ik altijd fijn gevonden, en Alex Lahey weet er een fijne versie van te maken.

- Net zoals 2019 was 2020 een topjaar voor Danny Vera. Hype of niet, wat mij betreft maakt hij al jaren fijne muziek. Mooi, emotioneel ingetogen nummer is zijn nieuwste single. Misschien iets te sentimenteel, maar met zo'n stem heb ik daar geen problemen mee.

- Tiga volg ik onderhand bijna 20 jaar, maar zo goed als hier had ik hem al even niet gehoord. Fijn om die typische kille electro-sound weer eens te horen, is toch iets dat je niet veel meer hoort.
- Gidge maakt meer atmosferische techno, het laatste album is ook erg goed. Ze gooien eigenlijk alles in de blender wat de afgelopen 10/15 jaar populair is in elektronica-land, van Moderat tot Burial tot dial-techno als Efdemin, maar het resultaat mag er zijn.
- Fujiya & Miyagi luisterde ik veel in 2005/2006, zit een beetje in de hoek waar bv. Hot Chip ook in zit, alleen zijn deze Britten tekstueel wel iets grappiger. Ook toen al.
- R + Dido hebben een fijne discohouseplaat gemaakt, geremixt door de mensen achter Faithless. Gelukkig lijkt het niet op Faithless, dat ik behoorlijk gedateerd vind. Dit is een stuk frisser en opgewekter. En Dido heeft nog steeds een fijne stem.
- Charli XCX en Hayley Williams zijn al een paar maanden oud, maar die heb ik in de herkansing gedaan nadat ik door de toplijst van RYM aan het struinen was.

Week 51 alweer, nog maar een weeklijst en dan is het jaar alweer voorbij.
Na vorige week een heleboel binnenkomers, nu maar eentje. Maar die is wel het vermelden waard, betreft de Nederlandse band Habitants die wel wat meer aandacht verdiend hier:




Betreft een band met o.a. ex-leden van The Gathering die dromerige (atmos)ferische muziek maakt met diverse invloeden uit bijv. de shoegaze en post-rock.
