Van Tom Petty staan er een stuk of 40 in , maar de zoektocht naar American Girl , leverde niets op

Traditiegetrouw weer een lijstje aangeleverd! Als, ook traditiegetrouw, een aantal woordjes kritiek, wilde ik voorstellen dat Radio 2 eens wat meer moeite stopt in zijn keuzelijst.

Om een voorbeeld te noemen, de omissie van nummers van bijvoorbeeld een King Crimson, Sonic Youth en Tim Buckley (is dit dan echt niets voor het radio 2 publiek?).

Of het weglaten van nummers van critically acclaimed albums van artiesten die wel in de keuzelijst staan, bijvoorbeeld Talk Talk (niets van na The Colour of Spring) en Björk (niets van de Homogenic en Vespertine-era)

En waarom niet een paar 2021 nummers promoten via de keuzelijst, die ook radio 2-fahig zouden kunnen zijn. Silk Sonic, om maar wat te noemen. Maar goed, de nieuwe ABBA single stond er ook niet in.

De post van Hedser lezend is dit dus eigenlijk wel gebeurd, maar niet bij de artiesten die ik zelf voor ogen had. Maar ik snap eigenlijk ook wel dat Radio 2, een zender met een gemiddelde luisteraar van 48 jaar en een uitgesproken nadruk op popmuziek, zijn 2000 einde-jaars klappers focust op zijn eigen darlings en zijn keuzelijst niet gaan aanpassen naar de wensen van een doelgroep die het medium de overige 51 weken per jaar links laten liggen (Dan doel ik op luisteraars onder de 25 en lijstjes-gekke muzieksnobs)

Voorgaande jaren was er toch vaak ook wel iemand die nummers zocht die voor het eerst in de keuzelijst staan?

Waarom er zo overdreven veel nummers van de bijvoorbeeld eerder aangehaalde Anouk in staan, maar van andere artiesten niets, ontgaat me toch wel. Uiteraard zal de organisatie vast voorkeuren hebben die er doorgedramd worden, maar meer afwisseling zou toch zeker op prijs gesteld worden. Is het dan zo erg om artiesten toe te voegen die mogelijk niet door Radio 2 gedraaid worden? Levert ze vast ook wel meer kiezers op.

Dat is al jaren een regel bij de top 2000. Nummers van dit jaar worden niet in de keuzelijst gezet. Maar daarbij moet wel gezegd worden dat er niet altijd goed op wordt gelet. Vorig jaar zat Soldier On van Di-Rect in de keuzelijst, terwijl die er volgens de regel eigenlijk niet in had moeten zitten. Dat nummer werd uiteindelijk wel uit de keuzelijst verwijderd, maar aangezien het vorig jaar op 12 binnenkwam had het denk ik weinig effect .

Radiohead - Airbag staat 2 keer in de keuzelijst.

Ik heb het volgende ervan weten te maken. Had het idee dat de keuzelijst weinig was uitgebreid, maar blijkbaar zit de uitbreiding dus bij artiesten die ik toch al niet overweeg of al een nummer van heb.

Ik zocht ook tevergeefs naar 21st century schizoid man. Die had ik toch echt wel verwacht aangezien dit nummer in veel reclame's en games (prominent) voorbij komt.

Ook mijn lijstje is inmiddels op de post. Redelijk wat wijzigingen t.o.v. vorig jaar, maar nog steeds veelal favorieten die al eens eerder mijn lijstje hebben gehaald. Ik vermoed dat een groot gedeelte van deze nummers de top 2000 niet gaat halen, maar dan heb ik ze in elk geval niet onbenoemd gelaten. Vrije keuzes staan met een sterretje gemarkeerd -ook die gaan het vrijwel zeker niet redden, maar zolang ze de lijst niet halen blijf ik stug op ze stemmen.

Starless heeft ooit nog in de echte lijst gestaan (dus niet de voorkeuzelijst), bijzonder dat die dan nu verdwenen is.

Gelukkig staat O-zone er wel nog steeds in, terwijl die nooit de lijst geeft gehaald... Maar dat zeg ik ook ieder jaar. Misschien kun je er nog op stemmen omdat ik er elk jaar op zoek.

Deze heb ik gemist in de keuzelijst. En ik heb ook voorbij London Calling gescrolld. Twee nummers die anders zeker in mijn lijstje zouden staan.

Misschien nog maar eens een tweede maken deze week. En die ga ik dan vullen met enkel liedjes waar jullie al voor gekozen hebben, maar die niet in mijn eerste lijstje staan.

Natuurlijk tal van nummers niet aanwezig in de keuzelijst en tal van nummers vergeten, dus voor wat het waard is. In ieder geval 35 nummers die ik geweldig vind en hopelijk heb ik hiermee ook een paar afwezigen de lijst ingeduwd. Geen eigen keuzes gedaan, die halen het toch nooit.

Ja, ik heb geen probleem met commentaar incasseren, maar dan moet die terecht zijn, en dat is niet het geval. Bovendien veel anderen die mijn zorgen ook deelden. Maar mijn fout is inderdaad van dit gedoe te serieus te nemen. Het resultaat is een heel erg gestuurde lijst door de organisatie.

Mochten de Nederlanders zelf alle 50 nummers van Anouk erin zetten (uit eigen beweging). Geen enkel probleem. Maar dat systeem met een keuzelijst werkt niet. En een ander moet mij echt niet gaan zeggen wat goed is of niet. Of beperkt.

Als je het fair wilt houden, schaf je de keuzelijst af.

Zelfs in de Veronica Top 1000 stond King Crimson in de stemlijst met In The Court Of The Crimson King. Haalde de lijst weliswaar niet maar goed.... Wellicht is er dit jaar hoop voor Nick Drake. Nu voor het eerst met 4 nummers tegelijk in de keuzelijst. Pink Moon even meegepakt in mijn stemlijst. Stond bij Veronica ook opeens in de Top 1000.

Hierbij mijn stemlijst, 3 eigen keuzes, de rest allen uit de lijst. Inderdaad de nodige toevoegingen in de stemlijst. Zoals ik eerder al vermeldde Marillion en Genesis. Daarnaast inderdaad opeens ook een aantal onverklaarbare toevoegingen van wat het lijkt (vrijwel) gehele albums. Ik noem een The Head On the Door van The Cure, Synkronized van Jamiroquai of The Long Run van Eagles.
