Hadden vorige week de gitaarplaten het nog voor het zeggen, is het nu aan de meer ingetogen songs bij de nieuwkomers.

Hoewel er nergens een teken te bespeuren valt dat La Solassitude van Stromae als single verschenen is, kwam die afgelopen weekend toch de VOX (Radio 1) binnen. Vermoedelijk naar aanleiding van de live-performance tijdens de NRJ Music Awards? Enfin, vooral dat subtiel oosters getinte geluidje maakt dat ik hem bijzonder mooi vind. Rake tekst ook weer, over een vorm van eenzaamheid.

Bij de Young Fathers is het de sound in combinatie met de prachtige beelden in de videoclip die me over de streep trekt. Die cinematografie! En ik blijf even hangen in de ietwat meer klein gehouden nummers met Portland (Sensational) en zelfs MUSE, die voor de single-release van het mooie Ghosts (How Can I Move On), wat oorspronkelijk eigenlijk een Matt Bellamy solo-nummer was, een samenwerking met de Italiaanse Elisa aangegaan zijn.

week 50 van 2022 waar Soft Blue Shimmer stand houdt. Deze week 5 binnekomers waarbij 2, evt 3, je je niet vergissen moet in wat de band en wat de titel is.
Kidbug, de internationale super-indieband bracht de clip van deze cover van Low vorig jaar al uit, maar toen stond het nummer niet op Spotify. Dat is nu wel het geval en daarom zet ik 'm nu alsnog in m'n lijst. Heerlijk nummer.
Ladytron is weer helemaal terug, City of Angels staat mog in m'n lijst en daarvan zei ik al dat het ouderwets goed klonk, nu is er Faces en daar geldt hetzelfde voor.
Tiali verwdijnt deze week met Jigsaw maar er is een nieuwe, Icicles, een nummer dat rustig begint maar steeds heftiger wordt alsof mevrouw Tiali zich steeds bozer maakt.
Blondshell heeft met haar vorige top 10 gehaald, nu is er een kort rock nummer waarbij de tv serie Veronic Mars als tijdsreferentie gebruikt wordt.
Vandermeer, uit Duitsland, volgens eigen zeggen shoegaze meets stoner. Ja daar kan ik wel wat mee.

Goed voorbeeld waarom de Excel matching 'the' altijd verwijderd.
Nadeel : bij andere bands met the , word ie later handmatig weer toegevoegd. en soms dus vergeten.......

Het Canadese Ghost Woman is voor mij een nieuwe ontdekking, toch brengt de band in januari 2023 al het tweede album uit. Wat een heerlijke sixties sound heeft dit The End of a Gun. Komende week het eerste album maar eens gaan draaien.




Volgens mij zijn The Clockworks er nog steeds niet in geslaagd om een slecht nummer uit te brengen. Ook met Blood on the Mind is het meteen weer raak. Met de meest recente singles van het Nederlandse EUT heb ik wat meer moeite, maar Can't Stop Me heeft me wel weer weten te overtuigen. Savannah Gro debuteert in de lijst met Maybe Tomorrow, dit nummer heeft even een paar weekjes nodig gehad, maar is te mooi om niet binnen te laten komen. De laatste nieuwe is voor de gebroeders Betten (al kan ik aan die benaming nog maar moeilijk wennen), de muziek van K's Choice blijft gelukkig van hoog niveau.

- Eerst maar de afdeling 'Kersthits' afhandelen. Kurt Vile geeft Bob Dylan's Must Be Santa de Vile-treatment. Het origineel is nogal kolderiek en voor mij moeilijk helemaal serieus te nemen, maar in deze lijzige slacker-versie met een laagje 80s synths kan ik hem heel goed hebben. Molly Burch is een Amerikaanse singersongwriter in de indiescene die zo nu en dan in mijn lijst opduikt. Deze keer dan met een eh heel cozy nummer dat na een keer of 5, 6 luisteren al in mijn geheugen gegrift zit alsof het een klassieker is die al jaren meegaat.
- Paramida is een Iraanse DJ die vanuit Berlijn haar mixes en producties op de wereld loslaat. Ben nog niet heel bekend met haar eerdere werk, maar de EP waar dit de leadtrack van is, is steengoed. Mooie trancy deephouse, echt een plaat die aanvoelt als een verhaal (terwijl er geen noemenswaardige vocalen zijn).
- Agar Agar's Trouble had ik 2 maanden terug uit mijn tiplijst gehaald, maar is uiteindelijk in de herkansing toch nog bovenkomen drijven. Eigenlijk niet minder leuk dan The Visit, die deze week de lijst verlaat.
- SG Lewis & Tove Lo scoren met een goede electropopplaat. Tove Lo ken ik vooral als popprinsesje met leuke uitschieters en standaard top40-rommel, maar het valt me op dat ze gaandeweg wel steeds vaker echt kwalitatieve popmuziek maakt. Misschien dat ze ooit nog een Jessie Ware-achtige discoplaat kan maken.

Die Week 50 bevat zoveel goede muziek dat ik haast een TOP 100 moet gaan overwegen. Nuja, niet echt natuurlijk, ergens moet het stoppen.
