Final Countdown is een zogenaamde quilty pleasure zoals je uit de rest van mijn lijst kan zien. Ieder zijn of haar afwijking. Bon Jovi doet me tot op de dag van vandaag niet veel.

Ben benieuwd hoeveel lijstjes er in de laatste 2 dagen bij gaan komen. Inmiddels zijn het er vermoed ik al meer dan 70.

Verder lijkt me dat Public Enemy door de laatste paar lijstjes zeker is van de bovenste 40, maar pin me daar niet op vast.

Inderdaad, ieder z'n afwijking. Mij doen die dingen in elk geval niet zo veel...

Garlands had ik nog op 4 sterren staan. Schandalig natuurlijk. Dit is meteen de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer ten opzichte van mijn lijstje van vorig jaar (toen nog maar een top 20). Ook mijn nummers 4, 5 en 10 zijn nieuw.
Een aantal grote dalers zijn First and Last and Always (van 3 naar 12), Pretty Hate Machine (van 10 naar 25) en Seventeen Seconds (vanaf 19 uit de lijst).
De enige stijger uit mijn lijst is Black Celebration (van 15 naar 11).

Begin jaren '80 ben ik me serieus voor muziek gaan interesseren, en dat begon echt met Script for a Jester's Tear. Het gaat wat ver om te zeggen er voor mij niets zou bestaan buiten neo-prog, maar het heeft wel altijd in het centrum van mijn interesse gestaan. En juist de muziek die je rond je 20e oppikt blijft volgens mij het beste hangen. Ik heb (later) wel eens een poging gedaan (met name David Sylvian), echt gegrepen heeft het me niet. Van de Simple Minds en Fischer Z heb ik toen ook wel LP's gekocht (Sparkle in the Rain en Red Skies over Paradise bijvoorbeeld), maar die zijn in de loop van jaren toch uit beeld geraakt.

Mijn herinnering van de jaren '80 is toch vooral veel Wham, dat Italiaanse Boys boys boys wijf in een zwembad dat haar bikini aan het ophijsen was, Dafjes die achteruitrijden bij de TROS, de neutronenbom, Dallas en Dynasty, Ciske de Rat, verwijfde glam rock / hair metal, Lee Towers, Op Volle Toeren, Aerobics, Dolly Dots, Thatcher, Ivo Niehe, de familie Flodder, Derrick, Falco en Modern Talking. Kortom, bad taste.
