Het aantal nummers in de keuzelijst ging in eerste instantie van 6539 vorig jaar naar 6772. Na een klein foutje (Soldier On stond in de keuzelijst), zijn dat er nu nog 6771. Ondanks deze stijging zijn er ook een hoop (kerst)nummers uit de keuzelijst gehaald. Simpel zoeken op “Christmas” in de keuzelijst levert al bijna 100 resultaten minder op. In totaal zijn bijna 500 nummers nieuw in de keuzelijst in vergelijking met vorig jaar.

Naast een ruime selectie van 119 nummers uit 2019, zijn er ook vele andere toevoegingen die vaak best vreemd zijn. Wat heeft het voor nut om de keuze bij een artiest die al ruim 10 jaar niet in de Top 2000 staat uit te breiden van 9 naar 10 (Sheryl Crow), van 5 naar 7 (Sister Sledge) of van 12 naar 13 (Kool & The Gang) en van vele andere artiesten die wel met alle keuzelijstnummers in de lijst staan niet? De grootste sprong komt op naam van Sade die van 12 naar 17 nummers gaat (vorig jaar maar 1 notering bij de bovenste 2000..). Ook Prince, met en zonder The Revolution, en Bruce Springsteen krijgen er vijf keuzemogelijkheden bij.

Relatief onbenullige 80's- en 90's-artiesten als Kid Creole & the Coconuts, Army of Lovers en Alexander O'Neal staan er opeens met meerdere nummers in, terwijl er toch best wel wat artiesten van naam (met name in de 21e eeuwse indie en hiphop) ontbreken...
