Twee majestueuze zuidelijke soul parels (in beide gevallen de beste versie van het nummer die er bestaat) die makkelijk top honderd in dit spel zouden moeten scoren. Een prima 80's R&B nummer van Al Johnson, de signature song van Gregory Porter en als afsluiter het niet bijster interessante Tainted Love.

Had Al Johnson niet 19 punten vanwege een score van 3 ?

Ik zie Latimore hier graag doorgaan maar het zal lastig worden met die klassieker van The Spinners in het kielzog. Howard Tate vind ik een goede soulzanger, maar dit nummer rust meer op stemakrobatiek dan 'n ware overdracht van de tekst. Ik voel 'm niet zo.

KO: Jullie sporen niet... Al Johnson is te gek maar You Left The Water Running is een soulklassieker in optima forma. Ik heb toevallig wel net de LP van Al Johnson gekocht want het is wel gewoon een hele lekkere plaat. Maar, eerlijk is eerlijk, dit is een van de minste nummers erop en dat die nou juist hier meedoet vind ik opvallend. Anyway, hopen maar dat de mensen met een goede smaak nog komen .

L63: Allemaal wel redelijk maar niks wat er echt bovenuit stijgt. Ik geef de grensgevalletjes het voordeel.

L64: Tommie Young is een van mijn favoriete soulstemmen en wint het daarom nipt van het eveneens uitstekende Dig a Little Deeper. Howard Tate heeft een fijne toeter in het nummer en ook die laatste twee zijn helemaal niet verkeerd. Hoger niveau dan de ladder erboven in ieder geval.

Beide winnaars (Go away dream en Ain't no love lost) hoor ik heel graag en zijn een perfect medicijn tegen elk slecht humeur.
De nummers 2 hebben toevallig ook een overeenkomst; hier dompel ik me onder in de behaaglijke jaren 80 sound. King Floyd's nummer vind ik ook erg mooi en had net zo goed de 4 punten kunnen krijgen.

De beide koplopers krijgen weinig tot geen punten van me. Beide zijn simpelweg een beetje suf. Er gebeurt te weinig om het spannend te houden. Nu moet ik wel zeggen dat beide ladders geen echte hoogtepunten kennen maar The O'Jays en J. Blackfoot neem ik graag nog een rondje mee.

Je voelt het niet bedoel je. Als de sound/ (positieve) sfeer/ groove al spot on is dan hoeft er niet zo veel te gebeuren.
En dat verbaast me inmiddels al lang niet meer o.b.v. stem historie bij bepaalde songs. Prima verder trouwens hoor, ieder z'n voorkeur Ik heb dat vaak met een country/ folkish geluid.

Volgens mij is dit precies het criterium dat ze aanhouden bij het uitzoeken van muziek voor in een koffietent. Ik noem dat zelf liever voortkabbelen .

Geef mij maar het adres van een koffietent waar ze lekkere soul/funk en disco gems draaien, en ik ga er wonen.
Mijn ervaring is dat de massa in Nederland er weinig bij voelt. Daarom vind ik radio in grote internationale steden vaak wel fijn.

Bij deze even wat kruimels voor Poeha en principal2000 zodat ze de ladder terug kunnen vinden.

Ik volg het wel, maar heb niet al teveel tijd en als ik dan wat persoonlijke toppers zie, dan stem ik weer mee. En heel toevallig zitten in beide ladders twee persoonlijke top 20 kandidaten.

Ik vind I've Got My Second Wind bij afstand het beste nummer van een verder prima plaat. Doet stiekem ook een beetje denken aan het betere werk van Marvin Gaye al ga ik dan iets te ver, maar toch.

Overigens had ik deze Maurice & Mac ook graag doorgezien hoor. Ik vind 't ook de beste versie van You Left The Water Running.
