KO: Als eerste even terugkomen op de ladders van gisteren. Verrassende uitslagen (geen Bill Withers!) die mij zeer tevreden stemmen. Er is echter een ding waar ik niets van begrijp en dat is dat Roberta Flack van sommigen geen punten krijgt. Zoals Reijersen terecht opmerkte, dit is fokking top tien materiaal mensen!

L95: Vijf nummers die gelijkwaardig zijn. Millie heeft hier de pech dat haar versie toch wel een stukje minder is dan die van Luther Ingram, dat soort dingen laat ik bij een close call als deze wel meetellen.
L96: Weinig mis mee, Tommy pakt hem nipt.

Je kunt vloeken en tieren wat je wilt, maar 14 punten voor Roberta? Kom op, zeg. Dat wordt me toch iets te gortig.

Dat ze "door" zou gaan, had een ieder hier, neem ik aan, wel verwacht.

L97: Nou, dat is me het laddertje wel ja. Van de 'grote' klassiekers ligt Bobby me een stuk meer dan The Temptations. Maar, Papa.... is ook gewoon buitencategorie. Hetzelfde geldt voor He Called Me Baby, een van Candi's mooiste. I Forget To Be Your Lover is ook gewoon een klassieker in zijn soort (southern soul) al kun je dit misschien sowieso wel een soulklassieker noemen? Laatste twee nummers ook uitstekend maar wat minder dan 'de grote vier'

L98: Bijna moeilijker dan de ladder hierboven want totaal niet te vergelijken. Een geniale Prince, fijne zuidelijke soul van Reuben Bell, de prachtsong van Lamont Dozier en als klap op de vuurpijl een megaklassieker van Ray. Woman, Woman had ik veel andere ladders meer punten gehad.
