Ho ho, ik ben nog steeds voor een bonusronde "Favoriete Metal Song < 1980' en volgens mij stond ik hier niet alleen in.

Afijn, deze battle klinkt als een lekkere Roadburnafterparty.
Alhoewel, dat had ook met folk, ambient, hiphop, minimal synth, harsh noise, jazz, hardcore, dub reggae of noem het maar op ook gekund. Le Guess Who is er inmiddels niks bij.

Taubrą is gaaf, maar Blood Abscission is ontzagwekkend oppermachtig. Ook een van mijn ontdekkingen.
En opdat Thy Catafalque niet voor niets er door hen is uitgekieperd.

28. Blood Incantation - Obliquity of the Ecliptic vs. Miserere Luminis - De Venin et d'Os
Speaking of Roadburn: Blood Incantation eindigde hun oorverdovende set met dit wereldnummer.
Spijtig voor Miserere Luminis, want ook heel erg goed.

Gelukkig gaan er nog wat metalheads naar Roadburn om Blood Incantation op waarde te schatten. Wat vond je de beste show?

Roadburn 2024. Tears, literally tears.
Roadburn has been a blast with many highlights and only a few lowlights.
From the high-octane and even higher octaves from old school speedy heavy metalheads Riot City (John Cyriis, eat your heart out!) on Wednesday to the (for me) overwhelming grand finale of this edition: Dödsrit, the blackened Iron Maiden/Dissection of this decade.

But what about tears? I had so many emotions and moods these days: I had goosebumps during for instance Habitants (of etherial and psychedelic beauty) and Khanate (of nightmarish fear), I headbanged my neck into a triple whiplash during Royal Thunder (first show!), Agriculture, Blood Incantation and Fluisteraars (second show!), I danced and pogoed like a maniac at the rap-tsunami of clipping. and the crazy motherfuckers from the Angry Blackmen, I had a laugh with the strange, silly and funny performance of outsider artist Richard Dawson, I found my lost love back from Hexvessel and I had unfortunately some questionmarks during Fluisteraars (first show!) and Miaux.

But there was one moment that made me cry. Not only watery eyes, but literally. I just couldn't stop. I hardly cry and certainly not at concerts (last time I cried was during 'Splinters' by 16 Horsepower, so that's been awhile), but now it just flooded. Not because the music touched some unresolved trauma or other emotional scars.

No, because it was so goddamn hauntingly, blood-curdling beautiful.
The first half of Lankums 'Go Dig My Grave' crushed my tear ducts and made me cry with tears of exaltic joy. Hallelujah, praise the avant-folk of Lankum. And their drones as well.
Normally I hate this hand sign, but for once this heart (and a more than well-deserved applause) goes out to Radie Peat and her bandmates (both are not my hands, though )

Also a shout-out to and respect for the Dutch woman with the mahogany-coloured hair that was standing next to me, because as far as I could see at the right side of the stage, she (and me) were the only ones that were really dancing (and not just nodding or toe-tapping, all you lazy, wooden buggers!) on the undanceable, gloomy folkdrones of Lankum.

Ik kwam ook nog iemand in het wild tegen, daar moest ik even mee op de foto, want haar/zijn/hun show was imposant en het nieuwe werk erg overtuigend.

Heel gaaf verslag, EvilDrSmith! Erg leuk om te lezen, en mooi dat (live) muziek jou zo weet te raken. Ook knap van Lankum om zo'n ervaring te creëren. Dat zijn de ervaringen die je altijd bij blijven en een diepere band scheppen met o.a. de muziek zelf. Bedankt voor het delen!

5-0 natuurlijk. Blood Incantation mag deze jaargang wat mij betreft winnen. Miserere Luminis overigens ook erg goed; dat album van vorig jaar eindigde hoog in mijn top tien!
