NB: The Chasm staat op MuMe als releasejaar 1999, maar dat klopt niet. Het album is in oktober 1999 opgenomen, maar in april 2000 uitgebracht.

Helaas geen plek voor Hypnosia, Spiral Architect, Shape Of Despair, Nile en Grief, dus als iemand bij het lezen van deze bands zich geroepen voelt, dan zou dat leuk zijn.
En eigenlijk kan A Perfect Circle ook wel mee in deze lijst, toch? 'Judith' is metal en fantastisch genoeg.

Meteen een oorverdovend, indrukwekkend begin.

1. Limbonic Art - The Yawning Abyss of Madness vs. Hypnosia - Operation Clean-Sweep

Nou inderdaad, het jaar 2000 begint als het destijds gevreesde millenniumbug waardoor alles in chaos en verdoemenis zou belanden. Ondanks dat ik het fijn vind dat gehoor werd gegeven om Hypnosia in de lijst op te nemen, ben ik onder de indruk van Limbonic Art: minder sprookjesachtig en veel agressiever dan wat ik me kan herinneren van hun eerdere albums. Maar op die herinnering ligt inmiddels al een aardig laagje stof en spinnenraggen.

NB: excuus voor Alchemist, my fault. Zeer zeker niet doelbewust, toffe band!

Limbonic Art klinkt als Emperor, als Emperor nog nooit had gehoord van het woord ''dynamiek''.

Maar Hypnosia klinkt als Kreator, als Kreator nog nooit had gehoord van het woord... eh, nee, dat kan niet eens: Hypnosia is gewoon 100% old school Kreator-worship. Wel een hele gave en extreem agressieve, maar dat maakt Limbonic Art tenminste nog een houterige en dus ándere variant op Emperor.
