Die hype rond I Wanna Be A Hippy heb ik natuurlijk wel mee gehad. Maar even nazicht gedaan ivm Party Animals

Enkel in Nederland hebben ze dus de hitlijsten gehaald. Op Spotify is het luisterend publiek ook bijna uitzonderlijk afkomstig uit Nederland. Niet onbegrijpelijk dus dat mij het nostalgisch gevoel ontbreekt.

Fierce Ruling Diva - Rubb It In is dan wel een dikke plaat die me bekend is.

Zonde van met name Nakatomi en Lipstick, die hadden zeker top 5 gehaald en waarschijnlijk Knockin ook wel. Nou ja, als ze alledrie waren gebleven was het wel proppen geworden.
Bij mijn nummer 1 ga ik stiekem gewoon voor de versie die ik het best ken want werd in de studentensoos regelmatig gedraaid tussen de ratm en pumpkins door. Op de verzamelaar stond vast de softe radioversie.

Van deze 2 wist ik dat als ze door zouden komen, ze bij de top zouden belanden. Extra past niet bij het Yabba Mega concept, maar mept de concurrenten allemaal weg. Plastic dreams een goede 2e.

Uitermate prettige Rollo produktie, als alle pijlen dezelfde kant opgaan is het bij Rollo 1 geluidsextase als zijn kenmerkende sound losgaat.

Ook uit dezelfde stal, Give it up heeft net wat meer maar ze ontlopen elkaar nauwelijks. Als Vallee de larmes ook had meegedaan, had die zeker niet mijn top 20 gehaald, Ski & Dobre is ook niet alles geweldig.

De periode 1993-1996 is exact mijn beginperiode van de muziek als echte liefhebberij. In het begin was deze muziek dan ook echt top of the bill, in het eind van de periode begon ik me er al wat tegen af te zetten.

Deze lijst is anno 2024 een fijne trip down memory lane, maar de nummers laten zich vrij lastig rangschikken en het eind resultaat is een bont allegaartje van nummers die toch wel gewoon echt goed zijn en andere nummers die zonder jeugdsentimentsbonus nergens geweest waren.
