En ach, SvhJ... Zolang het album van Charli XCX daar nog als een wereldwonder wordt beschouwd denk ik er het mijne van

Oei, die briljante single van The Cure heb ik vast gemist.

Rekening houdend met wat daar allemaal voorbij komt, kan ik me best voorstellen dat die selectie grotendeels eens kwelling voor jou is.

Zelf vind het nog 50/50 genoeg om mee te doen. De helft bij SVHJ bevalt niet, maar in de andere helft vallen wel eens aangename dingen te ontdekken. (*) Met de uiteindelijke winnaars ben ik het meestal niet eens, een ander soort publiek heeft daar nu eenmaal de overhand. Ik sta altijd een beetje te kijken van de hoeveelheid, naar mijn gevoel, middelmatige en zwaar overschatte pop/dance die daar triomfeert. Maar dat is bij DAH niet anders, standaard gitaarbrij scoort hier vaak goed, terwijl veel wat afwijkt haast automatisch enkele zeer slechte scores ontvangt. Toch vind ik dit ook een leuk clubje. De gitaarplaat moet érgens uitgebreid aan bod komen en gewaardeerd worden.

Veel ongenuanceerd gitaargedoe, maar gelukkig ook wat leuke ontdekkingen. Zoals die nieuwe van die porseleinkast; geen verrassing, wel weer gewoon goed. En Humdrum; nooit eerder van gehoord, maar wel een sympathiek gitaarplaatje dat precies in mijn straatje past. De twee toppers kende ik al wel; Royel Otis met hun beste worp en the Veils met een boeiende single.
Ook leuk: nooit geweten dat the Bluetones nog steeds bestonden; die houden het ook al ruim dertig jaar vol.

Waarom precies deze Royel Otis het plots goed doet, ontgaat me wat. Al hoor je me uiteraard niet klagen. Alleen maar liefde van mijn kant voor deze band, as you guys know, maar dit nummer deden ze eigenlijk al wel eens eerder en steekt niet echt boven de betere singles uit ofzo, imo.

Heb ik éindelijk een echt goede track van Royel Otis ontdekt, krijg je dit...

't Viel me gewoon op. Het duo brengt een nummer dat eerder doordeweeks (zonder negatieve connotatie) is binnen hun palmares, weinig opvallend en absoluut niets nieuws voor hun doen. Zou ik het zelfs een lichte herhaling van eerder werk durven noemen? Misschien omdat ik al wat ze hebben uitgebracht reeds 735 keer beluisterde? Toch gaan de zenders allemaal overstag voor deze en ligt de waardering hoger. Waarom dit nummer? Enfin, good for Royel Otis.

Na een goed begin, wordt deze lijst allengs minder (al moet ik eerlijk zeggen, dat ik ze niet in deze volgorde heb beluisterd), The Bracknall levert duidelijk het beste nummer, Tamino vind ik verschrikkelijk.
