Rollen er 513 jaartallen uit, dus ik zoeken en zoeken want er staan toch echt 512 nummers in de machine... Nirvana 2002 was de boosdoener. Heeft mij wel even een goed kwartier beziggehouden.

Geen Revolting, Ghoulhouse en Corporation 187 van mijn kant; gebeurt te weinig of niet bijzonder, en Clawfinger ook nog eens opgezocht maar vond er weinig aan.

Net op tijd. Ik heb nog niet geloot, was net klaar met de statistieken.

Zweden - Ronde 1

Zelfs op een totaal van 512 nummers blijken er nog onmisbare cultclassics niet in de lijst te staan. Ik denk dat wij nog niet het laatste hierover hebben gehoord ('Ghost of Perdition' staat er niet in, dat zullen we geweten hebben). Ook de loophole om 'The Final Countdown' in de lijst te krijgen is uiteindelijk nooit gevonden. Wat er wel in staat maakt naar mijn mening een waanzinnig sterke lijst!
Hoewel het maximum pas op de laatste dag werd verhoogd, slaagden maar liefst 10 artiesten erin om het maximale aantal nominaties aan te tikken. De meeste namen zijn geen verrassingen en zijn aannemelijk de favorieten uit Zweden. Tiamat had ik niet verwacht, maar Etiul heeft flink zijn best gedaan met 5 Tiamat nominaties. 4 artiesten behaalden de oude limiet van 8 nummers.

Ik weet dat het met een knipoog is. Toch vind ik het wel interessant om getalsmatig inzicht te geven in waarom ik deze regel hanteer. Er staan in totaal 228 verschillende artiesten in de lijst (oké, 229 als ik Julie Christmas apart zou tellen). Gemiddeld zijn er 2,24 nominaties per artiest. 8 of 9 nominaties is dus 4x zoveel. Bovenstaande 14 artiesten maken al bijna een kwart (23,8%) van de lijst op. En het feit dat deze artiesten zoveel nominaties krijgen zegt al genoeg over hun status binnen het speelveld. 1 nummer per artiest erbij en ze nemen nog eens 2,73% (14 nummers) van de lijst in. De kleine spelers en obscure parels verdienen ook aan bod te komen, zowel als nominatie als in de rondes, want dat is een groot onderdeel van het spelplezier denk ik.

Oja, die demo-plaat: dat was voor het eerst in decennia dat ik die bandnaam weer eens tegenkwam. Ik had het destijds (vaker) moeten draaien, dan had er wellicht een laagje sentiment op kunnen groeien dat in hun voordeel had kunnen uitvallen.Leuke band, heb twee jaar geleden ook "Then Came The Demos" op groen vinyl gekocht.
Al is het wel leuk dat er tenminste nog een beetje ouweschoolthrash voorbijkomt, want ik klink nu negatiever dan dat ik feitelijk ben (ik vind het best wel aardig).
