Pink floyd door met 3-1 (ik heb hier mijn snor even gedrukt; ken netjes beide platen, maar ik vond dit echt een te moeilijke keuze tussen gedoodverfde favoriet die misschien, heel misschien wel nét iets beter is en de enorme underdog).

Vreemd dat er op dit forum zo'n anti Symphony X stemming heerst. Nog vreemder dat dit in het bijzonder onder Dream Theater fans het geval lijkt te zijn. Is dat net zoiets als Stones vs. Beatles? (Stones-fans die eigenlijk ook wel weten dat de Beatles beter zijn, maar het niet toe willen geven)
Zingt Russell Allen te zuiver ivm James LaBrie? Hebben de composities de balans tussen subtiliteit en welhaast campy bombast nét wat beter te pakken?

Laten we het over James LaBrie maar niet hebben
. Ik vergelijk Symphony X eigenlijk meer met bands als Rhapsody. Het thema is goedkoop, het is tenenkrommend theatraal (dat is Dragonforce ook, maar dat klinkt iig nog wat strakker/virtuozer) en na een paar keer draaien kon ik de plaat niet meer horen.

Overigens vind ik de stem van Russell Allen een van de meest tenenkrommende ooit, ook al zingt hij misschien zuiverder dan LaBrie. Zo'n vreselijke over-the-top stem.... dan zelfs nog liever Charles Dominici die eerder bij Dream Theater zat
