Dat The End lager staat dan Riders on the Storm vind ik wel erg opvallend. Wat mij betreft is The End toch wel 2 klassen beter... Maar RotS is ook prima.


Da's toch geen verrassing? Stond vorig jaar al erg hoog en Mezzanine is afgelopen jaar alleen maar populairder geworden op MuMe. Zou me niets verbazen als ze op 1 staan.

Ik heb nog 2 top 10 platen in de race, waaronder mijn nummer 1. *:)

Wel jammer dat alle Joy Division-platen er al uit zijn.

Merendeel van de ladder top 10 staat bij mij wel vrij laag. Black had ik ook zeker niet zo hoog verwacht.

Waar er dit jaar in groep 1 sprake was veel van Cure en JD, was dat vorig jaar het geval met Neil Young. Uiteindelijk leidde dat vorig jaar niet tot een top 10 notering voor 1 vd 3 nummers die toen de finale wisten te halen.
Dit jaar vielen de NY nummers al in een eerder stadium af en bereikte alleen Like a Hurricane de finale. En, wellicht verlost van Cortez the Killer - populair onder de fans, minder onder de niet-fans en dus altijd hoog scorend in de love/hate competitie - lukte het Like a Hurricane nu wel om de top 10 te bereiken.
En wat opvalt, niemand heeft dit nummer onderaan zijn lijstje staan tegenover 7 mensen die dit het beste nummer vd finale vonden.

Het heeft er overigens heel lang niet naar uitgezien dat NY in de top 10 zou belanden. Sterker nog, halverwege stond ie, na eerst rond de 25e plaats te hebben gestaan, pas op de 20e positie. Maar geleidelijk aan begon ie toen gestaag te stijgen, via 15 - 12 - 10 uiteindelijk de top 10 binnen en gestrand op de 8e plaats, de hoogste notering voor Neil Young ooit met welk nummer dan ook in de geschiedenis vd MuMeLadder.

Waar ik me van vorig jaar kan herinneren dat "het lichtje" pas op het eind met een geweldige eindsprint de top 10 in kwam denderen deed het nummer het deze keer vanaf het begin goed in de finale en heeft het continu een top 10 positie gehad.
Lange tijd stond het nummer zelfs 4e - 5e en heel even leek het op weg om het gat met de top 3 te gaan dichten. Maar met toenemen van het aantal deelnemers begonnen the Smiths toch langzaam maar zeker wat weg te zakken uit de absolute top en zakte het uiteindelijk 1 plaatsje ten opzichte van vorig jaar.

Wat opvalt is dat er slechts 2 nummers zijn die minder in de bottom 5 vd lijstjes terechtgekomen zijn. Maar de keren dat the Smiths niet in de bovenste of onderste 5 genoemd werden scoorden ze toch net te vaak een lage middenmoot positie om echt tot de top te behoren.

Inmiddels een vertrouwd gezicht in de finale van de MuMeLadder en ook in de top 10. Dit jaar voor het eerst echter geen top 5 notering maar desalniettemin kunnen we stellen dat Teardrop gewoon continu hoog scoort in de MuMeLadder.

Wat opvalt is dat het toch ook wel een soort van love/hate nummer is en dat er dus best grote verdeeldheid was onder de inzenders. Het komt dan ongeveer evenveel in de top 5 als in de bottom 5 voor. En ondanks dat het niet veel eerste en laatste plaatsen scoorde in de lijstjes vond je het nummer relatief weinig in de echte middenmoot (tussen 10 en 20) terug.

Maar waar het nummer vorig jaar duidelijk om de echte prijzen meestreed was dat dit jaar nooit het geval. Teardrop heeft eigenlijk continu stabiel rond de 6e tot 9e plaats gebivakkeerd zonder ooit uitzicht te hebben om de top 3 maar het zag er ook nooit naar uit dat ie uit de top 10 zou wegvallen.

Ah, nu dan echt the final countdown. Teardrop stond bij mij 30ste, mooi dat het er nu al uit is. Mijn nummer 1 en 5 hebben de top 5 gehaald.
