Bob Dylan heeft nou eenmaal heel veel beste nummers.

Ik wist al van te voren dat het onmogelijk zou zijn om tot een eenduidige keuze te komen van mijn 10 nominaties. De twijfel is er nu nog steeds. Hoe kan Sara niet in dit lijstje staan? En It Ain't Me, Babe mag natuurlijk ook niet ontbreken, evenals John Wesley Harding, Simple Twist of Fate en nog vele anderen. Maar de 10 hieronder horen er ook allemaal in thuis.
Afijn, dit zijn ze dus geworden. Ik heb bij mijn twijfel de nadruk wat meer gelegd op het latere werk van Dylan, omdat de topnummers uit die tijd tot nu toe wel erg summier genomineerd zijn.

Ik ben eerlijk gezegd niet (meer) echt een enorme Dylanfan, maar ik was onwillekeuring toch een beetje onder de indruk toen ik al een zeer hoge drempel voor mijn eigen nominatielijstje had aangehouden, dan nog 'Desolation Row' en 'Masters Of War' moest schrappen, en dan nog steeds een lijstje overhoud waar naast drie persoonlijke favorieten nog zeven nummers in staan waarbij ik denk: hoe is het mogelijk dat die de startlijst niet hebben gehaald?

Mijn uiteindelijke lijst beperkt zich min of meer tot de eerste vijf jaar van zijn carrière, zeg maar pre-motorongeluk. M.i. toch wel zijn meest urgente periode.

Edit: oh, ik had natuurlijk wel 'Blind Willie Mctell' moeten noemen, maar die zal het toch wel halen, neem ik aan.
