Het organiseren van de Knock-out: 1977 vond ik best wel leuk en ik wil daarom ook wel verder gaan met 1976 hoewel ik dat geen bijzonder goed jaar vind. Maar goed, anderen op MM denken daar misschien anders over.
Ik heb al vast een lijst gemaakt van de albums maar ik zal best het eea vergeten zijn. dus aan jullie om het lijstje aan te vullen, hoewel ik niet denk dat ik aan de 128 kom zoals in het topjaar 1977. Of het worden er 64 of 96; wij zien wel.

Even in mijn eigen stemmenlijst gekeken en een aantal albums gevonden dat er niet in staat en er ook niet zo nodig in hoeft. Maar misschien heb je nog plek voor deze:

Met beide een redelijk gemiddelde en ruim boven de 20 stemmen... en dan nog deze met minder dan 20 stemmen, maar wel een parel van eigen bodem

Mooi Casartelli. Ik wacht gewoon nog de reacties van anderen af. Ik heb geen haast, er zijn op het ogenblik games genoeg. Het is mijn bedoeling mits ik genoeg gemotiveerd blijft alle KO's te doen tot ongeveer 1966/1965. Ik zie wel.

Weet niet of 26 stemmen voldoende is voor de lijst maar het is wel een bekende naam en een baanbrekend album:

Giorgio - From Here to Eternity

Voorlopig is 26 stemmen voldoende. Ik denk dat ik doorga tot 96 albums en dan vervolgens begin met een voorronde zodat ik 64 albums over houd. 128 albums gaat niet lukken denk ik. Ik zet Giorgio er in ieder geval bij.

Verder nog:

Roxy Music - Viva! (of doen live albums niet mee?)
Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive! (idem live)
Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear (33 stemmen slechts, maar wel een van hun betere albums)
La Düsseldorf - La Düsseldorf (28 stemmen)

En inderdaad een vrij matig jaar, steekt er voor mij maar eentje met kop en schouders bovenuit en dat is de Thin White Duke.

Dat zou ik toch af willen raden... het is in een match tussen 2 albums op dit vrij specialistische niveau al lastig genoeg om mensen te vinden die met beide bekend zijn, laat staan in een match tussen 3 albums.

Live albums doen niet mee. Die albums van Tangerine Dream en La Düsseldorf uiteraard wel.

Inderdaad, 1976 was niet zo'n bijzonder albumjaar (de minste van de jaren '70), de artiesten hadden blijkbaar last van de hitte die zomer. Deze 3 mogen er wel bij:

Elton John - Blue Moves
Neil Diamond - Beautiful Noise

Grappig dat iedereen 1976 zo'n matig albumjaar vind. Voor mij is het ook het minste jaar van de 70's (en ook alles daarna denk ik).

Kon ook verder niets meer vinden wat nog niet genoemd was, op een paar obscure platen na. Maar 4 stemmen voor Cloud One is vast niet genoeg.

Dat iedereen valt wel wat mee... 1978-1980 is voor mij meer de magere periode.

Vandaar dat wij in 1977 verrast werden met frisse muziek van Talking Heads, Television, Wire en twee uitstekende albums van Bowie. De zomer van 1977 was trouwens ook niet veel soeps.

Hoezo een match tussen drie albums Nu kan ik je even niet volgen.

Prima jaar, 1976!

Genesis (2 keer maar liefst), Camel, Kansas, Kayak, Jean Michel Jarre.

Ik nam aan dat je van 96 naar 64 albums wilt gaan door er telkens drie tegenover elkaar te zetten en er dan 1 weg te laten stemmen... of had je andere plannen?

"Trick of the Tail" is voor mij nog steeds het beste album van 1976. Ik moet dat nodig weer eens een keer herbeluisteren. Verder gaven de The Ramones en The Modern Lovers al vast een voorproefje van de muziek die vooral in 1977 en 1978 zou domineren.

o, nog even met mieren copuleren... de band heet Van Der Graaf Generator, inderdaad een onjuiste vernoeming naar het apparaat

Neen, ik had dit in mijn gedachte.
Ik laat 32 albums met een relatief laag gemiddelde en weinig stemmen loten tegen albums die in het overige lijstje van 64 staan. Of ik moet het lijstje terugbrengen tot 64, maar dan moet ik weer een heleboel mensen teleurstellen. Dat lijkt me dus ook geen oplossing.
Iemand suggesties?

Misschien een variatie op je idee, misschien al precies wat je in gedachten had: je geeft de 32 platen met beste stemaantal/gemiddelde een vrijbrief voor de 2e ronde en laat alleen de andere 64 de eerste ronde.

Of: je geeft 32 willekeurige platen een vrijbrief voor de 2e ronde, dat helpt wel mee aan het vaak toch al wat willekeurige verloop van een KO.

Ik heb inmiddels met veel moeite 100 titels gevonden voor 1976, terwijl ik met speels gemak er zo'n 150 bij elkaar sprokkelde voor het jaar 1977. Het verschil tussen die twee jaren moge duidelijk zijn.

Ik wacht nog met de loting. Ik zal vast nog wel enigszins bekende albums vergeten hebben. Ik ga in ieder geval uit van 96 albums met 3,0* als limiet.

In 1976 waren hard- en glamrock zowat uitgeblust en de punk & new wave moest nog doorbreken.
Nu ja, 4 albums met 5* en 8 met 4,5* bij mij, merkelijk minder dan de 9 jaren voordien maar er kwamen veel later nog mindere jaren (maar vooral ook betere).

Het gaat om kwaliteit, niet om kwantiteit!

Die staat op Music Meter bij de 'score' en staat ook in de top 50 van het jaar 1976.
