Fijn liedje van Danny Brown (ook het clipje is fantastisch: dat jongetje !), enige kleine kanttekening is dat ik het te kort vind duren. Nu lijkt het meer een soort interlude dat abrupt wordt afgekapt dan een volwaardig nummer, hij had er wat mij betreft minstens één extra minuut bij mogen plakken.

Cody ChesnuTT blijft toch mijn favoriet hier, soulvol maar met vooral veel invloeden van rhythm en blues, en in de verte hoor je nog een beetje de invloeden van rock. De nummers van Antony and the Johnsons, Archive en Isbells zijn zeer degelijk, met de drie andere nummers heb ik beduidend minder.

Erg fijne en gedreven track van The Unwinding Hours. Cody ChesnuTT's nummer is ook prima, maar iets te "druk". Het nummer van de Belgische Isbells is erg lieflijk, niet verkeerd.

Ik ben net thuis van vakantie en ga proberen alles nog vlug te beluisteren, gelieve dus nog niet de uitslag te posten.

Wat een prachtige ladder, zeg. Geen enkel minder nummer en het was vreselijk moeilijk om hieruit een top 4 te maken. Ik heb als topper dan maar voor The Scene gekozen, waarbij Thé Lau, met z'n doorleefde stem me aan het laatste werk van Johnny Cash doet denken. Ook Antony heeft me positief verrast, ik had gedacht nooit een nummer te vinden van hem dat me zou bevallen, maar dit heeft het echt wel, in combinatie met die al even mooie videoclip.
Afsluitend: topladder!!

Hier zit geen enkel zwak nummer tussen, maar ook niets wat ook heel sterk is, het is allemaal wel aardig. Even zien of ik sowieso tot een top4 kan komen.

Ik ben stomverbaasd dat Sinéad O’Connor nog zulke mooie muziek uitbrengt. Ik ben niet echt een liefhebber van haar werk, maar 'n aantal singles van haar twee eerste albums zijn prima (en Reason With Me kan zich daar moeiteloos mee meten, imo!). En Julia Stone, tja, ik moet toch maar eens snel die twee (solo-)albums van haar beluisteren. Ik heb het vermoeden dat ik heel wat in te halen heb.

Kendrick Lamar is prima, maar de aankleding had spannender gekund. Niettemin kijk ik uit naar zijn major label debuut op 22 oktober aanstaande en Zara McFarlane heb ik toch ook maar een plaats in de top 4 gegeven. In het het “Maak kennis met 2012”-topic was ik er niet echt gecharmeerd van, dat ben ik nog steeds niet helemaal, maar vooruit…
