OMD vs. Tears for Fears

OMD: heel duidelijke nummer 1 en 2, maar daarna slaat de willekeur wel wat toe. Wat meer nummers van de eerste twee albums en Sealand van A&M hadden voor mij de feestvreugde wel verhoogd.

TFF: band waar ik meer mee had en nog steeds wel heb. Nadruk op de eerste drie albums, maar de twee halve soloplaten van Roland Orzabal zijn ook met hun beste nummers vertegenwoordigd. Alleen die comeback was ronduit prut.

Dat kan ik goed uitleggen. Bij OMD heb ik de best of als leidraad genomen, ook omdat qua albums TFF wel wat bekender is in de breedte. Bij TFF ben ik alle albums afgegaan en bij de statistieken de hoogst genoteerde meegepakt.

Wilt u als wiskundige zijnde de volgende keer de stand wel even correct plaatsen

O ja, dit was wel een wat erg opzichtige poging om Talking Loud and Clear als underdog te presenteren.

Weinig, behalve dan dat er wel tien betere nummers in de lijst stonden.

Ik begrijp dat het post-jaren '80 werk niet zo aan jou besteed is?

Ik ken het post jaren 80 werk niet zo goed.
Ik vond hun derde album wel indrukwekkend, maar minder mijn ding.

Ik ben een man van vele 80s bandjes, maar ik volg ze zelden trouw tot op vandaag.
Was wel van plan om me eens een ultieme TFF best of aan te schaffen die ook later werk bundelt.

Helaas ziek geweest anders had Open Road van Bryan Adams ergens middenin de ranglijst gebivakkeerd.

Ik zie het nu pas,
maar waarom treden beide bands aan met een verschillend aantal songs?

OMD telt er 20 en TFF 18.

Waarschijnlijk, omdat vigil na het plaatsen van de startlijst nog twee nummers van het album Dazzle Ships toegevoegd heeft zonder er 2 weg te halen.

Dat klopt, ik was Dazzle (what's in a name ) Ships vergeten. Toen waren we al bezig dus om er nog twee te gaan schrappen of opeens twee toe te voegen bij TFF vond ik onzinnig.

Toch wel erg jammer dat een flauwe hit zoals Everybody Wants to Rule the World wel door is en de fantastische nummers Raoul and the Kings of Spain en Break it Down Again net te kort komen. Waarschijnlijk heeft dat dan toch met bekendheid te maken want aan de kwaliteit kan dat toch echt niet liggen.

Zoals waarschijnlijk wel bekend schat ik OMD hoger in dan TFF, niets mis met TFF alles keurig in de kast en vele favorieten maar OMD staat nu eenmaal hoog, heel hoog, op de ladder. Overigens had ik ook een betoog kunnen houden over Souvenir want ik snap er echt niks van wat iedereen altijd ziet in het slechtste nummer van A&M.
