Bagger van Ray LaMontagne? Point me to that dear sir. Misschien een paar te veel generieke - zoete - country ballads; iets waar een band als Wilco ook wel eens last van heeft. Het blijft altijd wel goed te verteren. De rest is allemaal kwaliteitsspul imho. Zijn stemgeluid wordt wel eens vergeleken met die van James Morrison, maar i.v.m. met Ray is dat maar een knulletje natuurlijk. Geen soul, geen authenticiteit, en een povere muzikale omlijsting. Ray is van ander niveau.

Zoals ik zeg: voor mij moeilijk te peilen; de ene keer een goed nummer, de andere keer spreekt het me totaal niet aan. Bagger is dan wellicht wat sterk uitgedrukt en een klein schopje tegen het zere been van een liefhebber, maar het punt is dat het me nooit heeft aangezet om meer van hem te willen beluisteren. En daar brengt dit nummer geen verandering in.

Teleurgesteld in Ray deze keer maar zelfs dan nog geen onvoldoende.
