Swans heerst! Dit is een van de meest toegankelijke nummers van To Be Kind maar dan krijg je nog een heerlijk onheilspellend nummer voor je kiezen. De groove is ontzettend funky en Michael Gira snauwt lekker en wanneer de kakofonie van de blazers er in komt kan ik niks anders dan overdonderd zijn. Steeds meer details komen er in de track en St. Vincent zingt ''Synthpop, send it to Mexico''. Een boodschap waar ik het alleen maar mee eens kan zijn.

2. Have a Nice Life - Defenestration Song (8,2)

De geest van Joy Division wandelt rond in deze track. Mysterieuze en duistere post-punk met stuwende baslijnen, de reverb in het geluid had iets minder gemogen, haalt een gedeelte van de details weg.

3. Angel Olsen - Hi-Five (8)

Dit vind ik een gaaf nummer. De stem van Angel Olsen brengt wat country met zich mee terwijl de instrumentatie lekker fuzzy en stoffig is. Niet al te netjes, lekker nog de rafelrandjes eraan.

4. Jamie xx - Sleep Sound (7,5)

5. Future Islands – Seasons (Waiting on You) (7,2)

De liveversie bij Letterman was fantastisch door vooral de performance van Samuel Herring. De meest awkward danspasjes die je in tijden hebt gezien en daardoor gewoon gaaf zijn en een rauwe en emotievolle stem waarbij ineens in de derde minuut grunts voorbij kwamen, ja, grunts! De studioversie is een stuk vlakker, toch blijft dit een nummer dat extreem lang in je hoofd blijft hangen en gewoon lekker klinkt.

Klinkt goed, maar daarmee ook een track die niet echt een indruk achter laat. Een beetje post-rock/electronic.

Muziek is mooi, maar die stem... brrrr.

Echt, Blaudzun is als een malle afgegleden in de laatste drie jaar met Heavy Flowers en de nieuwe plaat. De eerste twee platen vond ik fantastisch met eigenzinnige muziek en een stem die flink wat Radiohead met zich mee had, nu hoor ik een slechte Arcade Fire-kloon die alleen maar doorstampers uitspuwt en subtiliteit weglaat. Doodsonde!
