Zoals al eerder vastgesteld, kan ik met deze finalelijst enkel een lijstje indienen met nummers die minstens een kwarteeuw oud zijn. Nummers als Zooropa, Mofo en de Batman Forever-bijdrage hadden hier een kleurrijker lijstje van gemaakt, maar per saldo zijn mijn grootste favorieten hier wel gewoon beschikbaar.

Het lijstje wordt gedomineerd door Achtung Baby (6x) en The Joshua Tree (4x). Boy (1x) heb ik deze week nog gedraaid, October (2x) en War (2x) spelen ook mee. Zwakke broeder The Unforgettable Fire komt er niet aan te pas, al kwam Bad in de buurt. De grootste hits spelen een wat kleinere rol, aangezien het merendeel daarvan volkomen kapotgedraaid is. New Year's Day is daar de gunstigste uitzondering op.

Zoals gezegd hadden ook van mij wat meer latere nummers mogen meedoen: een lijstje zonder Zooropa, Lemon, Stuck In A Moment en City Of Blinding Lights (gek dat die hier zo is afgestraft, U2 die alle imitators uit die tijd toonden dat ze het nog steeds beter kunnen) voelt toch niet helemaal compleet aan. Wat niet wil zeggen dat dit niet allemaal fantastische nummers zijn.

Dat is ook het probleem met Blinding Lights zelf..klinkt ook als een imitatie van vroegere U2 nummers..

Tja voor mij is dat met zo'n beetje alles van na 1999 met Vertigo en Elevation als meest verschrikkelijkste voorbeelden.

Het laatste album is dan overigens wel weer een stapje in goede richting(voor mij dan).

Dat is reeds weggespoeld Vrijdag drinken we op de goede resultaten in de sporten buiten voetbal, en op het begin van de Gentse Feesten natuurlijk!

Elevation kon ik destijds nog redelijk waarderen..Vertigo kon ik wel schieten

Dat heb ik dan weer niet, vind het juist een hele mooie update van de klassieke U2-sound.

Elevation en Vertigo is wel een ander verhaal inderdaad, die vind ik zelf ook erg matig.

Vertigo is ronduit verschrikkelijk zelfs.

Wordt nog lastig een lijstje samen te stellen, van mijn top 10 zijn 6 nummers niet meer in de race, waaronder mijn nummer 1. De jaren '80 zijn wel erg oververtegenwoordigd.

Vertigo vind ik wel leuk al is het geen favoriet van me.

Jammer, een lijst zonder toppers als City of Blinding Lights (schande), Original of the Species, Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own, Magnificent, Walk On, Every Breaking Wave, Please, Ultraviolet, Kite of Acrobat (die laatste 4 zelf ook vergeten toe te voegen ben ik eerlijk), die bij mij toch wel hoog hadden gescoord.

Dat is toch ook waar u2 in feite allemaal jaren op teert? Niet zo heel verwonderlijk vind ik.

Ik heb respect voor deze band..tot en met achtung baby zelfs erg goed,.maar helaas is (en wordt) deze band zo enorm kapot gedraaid dat ik zelfs niet meer zo kan genieten van hun echt goede werk.

Daarom sla ik deze editie maar wijselijk over.

Meeste hiervan mis ik niet echt moet ik bekennen, maar Acrobat zou absoluut m'n top 10 gehaald hebben. En Ultraviolet misschien de onderste regionen van m'n top 15.
