Ik vind het concept erg leuk, ben altijd wel te porren voor Nederlandstalige metal. De uitwerking is alleen nog niet zo heel sterk, het klinkt een beetje als een demotape van Heidevolk.

Dit heb ik duizend keer liever dan Heidevolk. De vocalen vind ik niet zo, het zeer prominente orgeltje zorgt voor pluspunten.

ik moest in eerste instantie aan Schandale van Vandale uit 1981 denken, vind het wel goed

Ik vind die marsmannetjesgeluiden aan het begin wel geinig. Prima black metal!

IJsland doet het fantastisch dit jaar: ook Almyrkvi levert een sterk debuut af met Umbra. Het is gaaf om te horen hoe de ruimte wordt geïnterpreteerd binnen blackmetal: Oranssi Pazuzu laat het bijvoorbeeld zeer beklemmend en drukkend klinken, terwijl een Darkspace, maar ook dit Almyrkvi juist heel erg ijl en zwevend laat klinken. Prachtige cleane vocalen ook! De band is inderdaad niet zo veel bezig met spanningsopbouw, maar zet een sfeer neer waar je U tegen zegt. Dit luistert echt heerlijk weg!

Dus het gaat ook echt over de ruimte? Vandaar die marsmannetjesgeluiden..

Ik heb wel het idee dat met het artwork plus songtitels (Stellar Wind of the Dying Star, Fading Hearts of Umbral Nebulas) en sound de ruimte als thema gebruikt wordt.

Het Spaanse Altarage klinkt als een kruising tussen een minder gekke Portal en het meest sludgy werk van Morbid Angel. Ik vind het uitstekend, maar het mist dat extra's om het echt naar een hoger niveau te schoppen.
