Def Jam is gewoon een legendarisch label waar je veel respect voor moet hebben. En op de baas na niet commercieel. Roc-A-Fella toch wel. Vind die vergelijking niet echt goed. Maar label zegt niet alles, dus wie zal het zeggen. We kunnen maar beter gewoon even de rapper checken...

Crooked-I is toch die ex-Death Row-rapper uit Long Beach die na 2Pac's dood even Death Row nog levend moest houden, maar daar volledig in mislukt is?

Ja, hoe zit dat nu eigenlijk, is Roc-a-fella nog bij Def Jam of zijn die gesplitst?

Weet dat niet zo goed. Houd me nooit echt met labels bezig. Heb alleen groot respect voor de manier waarop Def Jam is opgezet in een tijd waarin hiphop nog weinig voorstelde vind ik het heel knap dat ze zo'n succes haalden. Roc-A-Fella is natuurlijk ook heel primitief opgezet, maar wel in '96 waarin hiphop allang hot was. Bovendien heb ik 10x liever alle Def Jam platen dan alle Roc-A-Fella platen en niet omdat Def Jam meer platen heeft.

volgens mij ken jij Def Jam niet ofzo, want hun zijn zo commercieel als de pest. sinds jaren 90 ging simons al geld ruiken. Jij noemd alleen rook ass fellas, maar ook DefJem, Virgin, Colombia, EMI, Sony en warnerbros. zijn geldwolven hoe meer hoe beter en maakt niet uit of je kan rappen of zingen als je maar verkoopt en vooral met veel mooie chicks, geld en nep gangster gedoe.

In de jaren 80 & gedeeltelijk 90 deden ze wel leuke dingen maar ze zijn allemaal wack geworden.

Luister naar de track Rule 4080 van DJ JS-1 en je weet welke nep zijn

Waarom open je bericht nou weer met: Volgens mij ken jij Def Jam niet ofzo. En vervolg je je bericht met een 'raffael77-feitje'.

Tuurlijk zitten er een paar commercieele artiesten tussen. Maar lang niet zoveel als bij Roc-A-Fella. Ghostface, Method Man, Redman, Public Enemy, EPMD, 3rd Bass zijn niet zomaar wat artiesten en zeker geen commercieele artiesten. Dat daar tegenwoordig ook Ashanti, Bobby Valentino, Ja Rule, Juelz Santana en Ne-Yo bijhoren is misschien wat minder. Maar ook ook The Roots en Nas zijn nieuw en dat zijn gewoon weer twee aanwinsten ondanks Nas' mindere recente platen. Dus ik heb niets tegen Def Jam.

Ik vind toch dat Def Jam zijn sporen heeft verdiend, want het label heeft een enorm aantal klassiekers op zijn naam staan. Op deze compilatie staan bijvoorbeeld toch echt wel voldoende nummers op om het bestaan van Def Jam te rechtvaardigen.

Het is geen feit van mij. Het is keiharde realiteit.
Rockafella is pas later opgericht dus die begonnen al eigenlijk slecht. Def Jam is hun achterna gegaan en psycho heeft wel gelijk dat ze veel dingen op de map hebben gezet maar waar ze eerst voor stonden zijn ze nu vanaf gegaan. Ik kijk nu de tijd en niet toen en waarom ik dat doe is omdat de meeste van Def groep allang niet meer bestaan, maar als ik moet kiezen tussen newschool of oldschool dan zeg ik oude want dat hiphop tijdperk was veel groter en veeeeeel beter maar dat is zeker ook lari koek en trouwens die tijd zat jij nog in de luiers.

Als het om de teksten gaat ken ik er 2 die nooit genoemd worden en dat zijn Chubb Rock & 2Pac. Zij zijn 1 van de beste schrijvers van allemaal.
Gaat het om mijn eigen voorkeur moet ik eerlijk zeggen dat ik dat best moeilijk vind.
Maar gaat het om iets wat op waarheid gebaseerd is dat iemand beste lyricist is dan word er gezecht dat ik lul en dat het niet waar is. Iedereen mag zijn mening toch geven. Maarja zeikers blijven zeikers.

ik ben het eens dat defjam genoeg goede artiesten heeft, en daar gaat het juist om waar ik op wees was dat artiesten die bij een comercieel label zitten nog wel goed kunnen zijn. Want vele hier beginnen de rapper al gelijk af te kraken als ze bij een comercieel label gaan en dat is defjam.

Noem dan een een paar rappers op van DefJam die het nu op dit moment goed doen en niet vroeger.

hij wilde zn album niet releasen omdat hij na een paar mixtapes een hype had opgebouwd, zoals ze dat zo mooi zeggen in america. en dat is geen commerciele gedachte.
hij wil zn album perfect maken en is er al erg lang mee bezig samen met just blaze (wel een vrij commerciele producer maar geen slechte) en hij wil zn album alleen releasen als hij er egt niets meer aan kan verbeteren.

Zij zaten eerst niet bij DefJam grapjas en zo goed zijn ze niet meer. Hier en daar wat hoogte punten maar ook slechte punten.

maar dat is nou wat ik bedoel ook al zitten ze bij een commercieel label betekend niet dat ze gelijk slecht zijn dat is het enige punt wat ik probeerde te bereiken.

Ik snapte die hype rond eminem niet echt. Nu nog niet.
Geen flow, irritante stem en naar mijn mening niet echt goede teksten.

In het begin vond ik ook zn stem irritant. Nu vind ik het wel grappig. Maar hij heeft echt een geweldige flow. Laatste tijd niet, maar luister eens het nummer samen met Biggie: Dead Wrong. Geniale tekst en die flow

Nou, zijn flow en stemgeluid zijn idd niet zo bijzonder. Hoewel hij inderdaad af en toe ook een top flowniveau kon bereiken. Maar dat maakte hem niet bijzonder. Em was gewoon een uitzonderlijke goede lyricist. Heel veel humor, een over-mijn-lijk mentaliteit en hij zei de dingen die de meesten alleen denken. De SS LP en MM LP zijn echt uniek qua teksten. Hij bereikt - vind ik - vooral op de SS LP echt een vreselijk hoog niveau. Je blijft gewoon luisteren. Verhaaltjes als in Brain Damage vind ik briljant:

Misschien dat het ook komt omdat ik het in dit geval helemaal met hem eens ben, maar los daarvan rapte Em zo vreselijk (ogenschijnlijk) makkelijk, en had hij zo'n typerende kijk op de wereld dat hij wat mij betreft uniek is/was. Eeuwig zonde dat geld zo'n artiest kan maken tot de artiest die hij nu is. Niets meer of minder dan een Britney Spears. Grappig genoeg iemand waar hij altijd zoveel kritiek op had.

Eminem kan heel wat en hij heeft ook de gave veel emotie in nummers te leggen ik hou daar altijd wel van maarja tegenwoordig..

Eminem als beste lyricist komt er bij mij niet in.
Voor mij toch de notorious b.i.g, dan nas,jay,pac,rakim, en misschien komt eminem dan om de hoek kijken.

Jay-Z? Zelfs op zijn beste album Reasonable Doubt (welke overigens wel ijzersterk is) haalt hij qua tekst geen bijster hoog niveau. Gewoon heel goed, maar hij blinkt toch vooral uit door zijn flow. D'Evils zou ik dan zijn beste nummer qua tekst noemen, en ik kan toch velen tracks opnoemen die tekstueel beter zijn.

Jay-Z is overrated.

Nou ik vind hem (vroeger) absoluut geen zwakke rapper. Zoals hij los gaat op Dead Presidents is gewoon fantastisch:
