Een tijdloos meesterwerk van mijn favorite band. Qua woestheid een Karel Appel, qua muzikaal raffinement een Beethoven.

2 Your Funeral, my Trial

Het album waarop Nick, naar mijn smaak, voor het eerst zijn uiterst donkere wereldbeeld weet weer te geven.

3 Unknown Pleasures

Net iets beter dan het eveneeens weergaloze 'Closer'. Die laatste hangt echter teveel tegen de zinloosheid aan. Deze heeft nog hoop.

4 Strangeways here we come

De zwanezang van The Smiths. Hun andere albums zijn ook magnifiek, maar hier heeft het nummer 'Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me' de doorslag gegeven.

5 Desintegration

De perfecte Cure. Melodieus, ingetogen, somber en vol verlangen.

6 Tinderbox

Moeilijk om te kiezen uit haar oeuvre, toch maar deze genomen.

7 Signing Off

Toen de jongens uit Birmingham nog muziek maakten. Na de opvolger 'Present Arms' ging het snel ravijnafwaarts.

8 In de Krochten van de Geest

Betere teksten hebben de Kecks niet meer geproduceerd.

9 The Joshua Tree

Naar mijn smaak de beste van U2.

10 Thriller

Verder heb ik niets met dhr. Jackson, maar deze is toch wel gewoon briljant. Zeer homogeen album.

(Bewust geen twee albums van dezelfde band/artiest gekozen)

Ik kom er nu achter dat mijn nummer 3 uit de zeventiger jaren stamt.
Toch laat ik hem lekker staan!
