Tja, Chevy's enthousiaste oproep ten spijt, heb ik ook ditmaal niet bijzonder veel dynamiek in de lijst. Ik vermoed ook dat ik minstens de helft van deze lijst niet afgespeeld heb sinds de vorige editie van deze lijst. Voornaamste verschuivingen zijn een flinke sprong omhoog voor The Piper at the Gates of Dawn en een behoorlijke daling voor The Songs of Leonard Cohen. Verder zijn de Sea Shanties van High Tide binnengekomen (dan staan ze er bij Brunniepoo ook wat minder eenzaam op) en dat is ten koste gegaan van de ep van Boudewijn de Groot, die ook wel als Strand bekendstaat.

Toevallig heb ik Hot Buttered Soul wel aangeschaft sinds de vorige editie. Voorzichtig met 3,0* begonnen, maar enig groeipotentieel zit daar wel in. Verder voorziet MuMe niet echt in een mooi filter op stemmen uitgebracht sinds een bepaalde datum in een bepaald tijdvak, maar op een regenachtige dag kan ik er thuis nog eens voor gaan zitten

Dat gezegd zijnd: hoewel net mijn interesse in soul langzaamaan wel wat toeneemt, zie ik platen uit die hoek in de nabije toekomst nog niet meteen een aardverschuiving in mijn gesettelde favorieten opleveren.

Edit: Hot Buttered Soul noemde ik zo even uit het geheugen. Dat die bij jou toevallig op 1 staat, zag ik daarna pas.

Da's ietsje te vroeg.

Ja, dus dan begrijp je dat ik zeg dat het wel een onsje meer mag zijn voor wat mij betreft één van de beste soul/funk platen allertijden.
Het leuke is dat al heel wat mensen 'm in de top 30 hebben. Wie weet stijgt 'ie wat.

Ik heb nooit zo kunnen begrijpen waarom heel veel mensen nou zo dol op The Beatles waren/zijn. Ik vind er zelf niet zo veel bijzonders aan en complete albums vaak wat aan de saaie kant.
De "Beatlemania" vind ik nog steeds maar een vaag begrip waarvan ik zoiets heb van: hoe heeft dit toch ooit kunnen ontstaan?
Maar goed, ik was er niet bij in de tijd dat ze groot werden, dus misschien heb ik ook weinig recht van spreken.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik de afgelopen jaren toch steeds enthousiaster ben geworden over the Beatles. Ik vond al lang de 'grote' platen uit de tweede helft van de jaren '60 goed, maar inmiddels vind ik hun 'rock 'n roll' tijd ook bepaald niet verkeerd. Inmiddels heb ik daarvan ook een stapeltje singletjes: toch lekker hoor. Toevallig luister ik net naar een Russische bootleg uit 1989 met radio opnames van Paul McCartney die allemaal klassieke rock 'n roll nummers speelt. Dat klinkt echt geweldig: dat konden ze ook. En Paul & John konden niet alleen goed liedjes schrijven, zingen konden ze ook.

Hier nog eentje (doe mij de Stones maar), maar heel langzaam is dat toch op komen zetten.
Sgt. Pepper is gewoon een dikke 5* geworden en Rubber Soul neigt er ook naar.
En zelfs die eerste albums waar ik echt helemaal niks aan vond draai ik toch wel graag zeker nu ik weer een tijd opnieuw vinyl ben gaan draaien. Vraag me nu Beatles of Stones en ik zou het niet meer weten. Had je met 5 jaar geleden nog moeten vragen

24 lijstjes en slechts één artiest staat tweemaal in de top 10. Het eerste album uit het eerste deel van de 60s vinden pas op plek 32.

De hoogste van The Beatles staat één punt boven Pet Sounds en 5 punten boven de hoogste van The Stones. Ome Bob blijft vooralsnog achter.

I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You staat één plek boven Lady Soul, omdat laatstgenoemde niet verder kwam dan plek 10, terwijl eerstgenoemde eenmaal op plek 8 stond.

Er bestaat een topic Beatles vs Stones hier op Musicmeter. Mag best wat intensiever gebruikt worden.

Ik zeg toch nog steeds the Stones, omdat ik hun ouder werk beter vind.

Ik heb in mijn top 30 The Beatles op 3, 7, 12, 14 en 16. The Stones moeten het doen met de plaatsen 20 en 26.

Leuk om de lijst af te sluiten met een obscuriteit als 'Sacred Mushroom' . Maar deze geef je slechts 3* en toch top-20 materiaal?
