I found the record recently in a secondhand shop in Brussels, and paid … only 2 euro’s for it. A big ‘Bazinga’ there, I suppose! ‘An Electric Storm’ was released almost a decade before the Archaia album and synthesizers were only introduced in popular music by The Monkees or Walter Carlos. So White Noise still used ‘a more antique’ recipe for their electronic input. Therefore, you should understand the band had musicians/experimenters from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in its ranks, a group that supplied background sounds and themes for BBC television productions. Now ‘An Electric Storm’ was basically made the same way, and is overladen with all sorts of noises and sounds. And while the A-side still has some poppy-tunes, the B-side sounds really dark and hellish. ‘An electronic storm in hell’ is how they describe it on the back of the record.
