Tweemaal op rij heb ik de jaren '00 editie door herkansing gemist, dus ik kan reflecteren op de veranderingen ten opzichte van drie jaar geleden. In combinatie met de recentheid van het decennium zal dat toch de nodige dynamiek opleveren!
In elk geval 7 nieuwkomers: een derde en een vierde Archive, beide in de top 10. Verder nog Rush (20), Coldplay (21), een tweede Paatos (23), een wisseling van de tweede Opeth (29; Deliverance valt eruit) en Sparks (30; die kwamen in de jaren '90 ook al binnen). Verder mooie stijgingen voor Paatos - Timeloss (9 -> 4) en Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic: Part Two (23 -> 11).
Naast de al genoemde Opeth sneuvelen liefst twee van de drie Gazpacho's (Firebird en Night). Verder valt het doek voor de enige noteringen van Proto~Kaw (Before Became After), White Willow (Sacrament), Martin Orford (The Old Road) en Phideaux (313). En Fates Warning - Disconnected maakt een forse duikvlucht (7 -> 27).

De releasedatum is discutabel. In de VS/Canada werd het album uitrgebracht op 13 september 2004. De Europese / Nederlandse release was bijna een half jaar later op 2 februari 2015. Voor die datum was het album in Nederland alleen via de import te krijgen. Het album staat in mijn administratie dan ook geboekt onder het jaar '2005' .Voor de bron, kijk hier of hier.

Dit is duidelijk het decennium waaruit ik het meest heb beluisterd, vandaar ook een top 60. Weer tien meer dan vorig jaar, want toen postte ik een top 50. Het is trouwens ook Boxer van The National en niet The Boxer. Vermoedelijk te laat om nog aan te passen, maar misschien nog interessant voor chevy93.

Dat eerste is duidelijk leeftijdsgebonden: wat je meeneemt uit je puberteit én uit je studietijd sluit je helemaal in je hart.
Dat tweede, sans rancune: beide bands zijn zo mainstream geworden dat menigeen ze alweer uitgekotst heeft (zoals nu ook met Arcade Fire aan het gebeuren is). Mijn zwager - voorwaar een laggard in muziek - kon ik pas na 3 twee jaar zendingswerk evangeliseren tav Sigur Ros (eerst Takk en toen Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust) en hij dweept nu nog met Bloc Party. Heb 'em ooit al eens voorzichtig zelfbrandertjes met o.m. Burial, James Blake en Jamie Woon gegeven, maar ik vrees dat dat nog een aantal jaren zendingswerk vergt; misschien dat ie Arcade Fire nét heeft ontdekt.

Scrollend door de lijstjes valt me op dat de meeste lijstjes, ook het mijne, neigen naar de voornamelijk blanke pop / rock, terwijl de afgelopen decennia toch vooral in het teken stonden van de dominantie van de 'afro amerikaanse' hiphop en verwante stijlen. Zitten we niet toch nog te veel in een 'ivoren' toren en wordt het geen tijd voor een vergelijkbare 'zwarte' lijst.

Dergelijke fouten pik ik er 99 van de 100 keer heel simpel uit. Zolang de artiest maar goed geschreven is, lukt het doorgaans wel. In het geval van Shearwater zou die bij de R (van Rook) terechtgekomen zijn en zou de kans dat het onopgemerkt blijft aanzienlijk toenemen.(quote)

Vooralsnog scoort de hiphop dit jaar bovengemiddeld goed. Maar goed, dat zie je wel vaker, dat hiphop langzaam terugzakt. Scrollend door de lijstjes valt me op dat de meeste lijstjes, ook het mijne, neigen naar de voornamelijk blanke pop / rock, terwijl de afgelopen decennia toch vooral in het teken stonden van de dominantie van de 'afro amerikaanse' hiphop en verwante stijlen. Zitten we niet toch nog te veel in een 'ivoren' toren en wordt het geen tijd voor een vergelijkbare 'zwarte' lijst.
Overigens heb ik altijd gezegd dat het iedereen vrijstaat om zijn of haar 'MuMe-verwanten' te attenderen om ook een lijstje in te sturen. Dat geldt in extra mate voor de hiphopliefhebbers (maar ook electronic is een ondergeschoven kindje), omdat die zich moeilijk laten porren om een lijstje in te dienen. Om welke reden dan ook.
P.S. Aankomend weekend verwacht ik weer een rondje langs de velden te maken om wat potentiële enthousiastelingen te taggen. Daar zullen zoals altijd ook weer flink wat hiphoppers tussen zitten.
