- Gazpacho - Tick Tock (vorig jaar op 10 en de vier edities daarvoor telkens rond diezelfde plek, maar eerlijk gezegd is de magie al enige tijd uitgewerkt)

- Snow Patrel - Eyes Open (16). Vorig jaar niet in mijn lijst, daarvoor nooit hoger dan 20.

Eigenlijk zijn de 80s en met terugwerkende kracht de 70s de enige decennia waarvan ik het gevoel heb de tijdgeest muzikaal te vatten. Ik kwam hier maar tot een top 30. Ik denk dan ook dat hier e.e.a. mist zoals Nick Cave (ik was nog niet bekomen van zijn 'Boatmans call'). Ik ben alleen van de top 10 echt overtuigd dat deze niet verloren mogen gaan in het zwarte gat van de popgeschiedenis. Maar daar heb ik dan ook wel echt veel luistergenot van gehad. Het waren in ieder geval geen slechte tijden voor de Nederpop, zeker gezien het feit dat ik fijne compilaties van Frank Boeijen en the Golden Earring die in dit decennium uitkwamen naar de 90s moest afronden.

Een handvol binnenkomers (buiten de punten) en nog een aantal noemenswaardige fluctuaties ten opzichte van het vorige jaar, die ik hieronder zal benoemen.

Opvallendste stijgingen:

- Burial - Untrue van #15 naar #5.
Fantastische plaat om in de nacht te draaien (bij voorkeur op de snelweg naar huis). Adembenemende sfeerschepping. Eentje die ook zelden verveelt.

- Keane - Hopes and Fears van #19 naar #6.
Magistraal debuut dat jarenlang m'n favoriete album is geweest. De laatste weken de schoonheid van Hopes and Fears weer herontdekt door hem regelmatig te draaien.

- Radiohead - In Rainbows van #36 naar #10.
Ook een album dat vaak aan stond in het afgelopen jaar. Bij een X aantal nummers die ik voorheen niet zo geweldig vond zijn de puzzelstukjes eindelijk op z'n plek gevallen, en zodoende is In ? het eerste Radiohead-album dat van mij de volle 5 sterren verdient.

- Juli - Est Ist juli van #22 naar #11.
Een van de eerste niet-Engelstalige albums waar ik compleet weg van was. Heeft altijd wel op 5* gestaan, maar gezien het feit dat ik er weer vaker naar ben gaan luisteren zit er toch weer een mooie stijging in.

- Nelly Furtado - Folkore van #35 naar #21.
Wederom veel naar geluisterd in de voorbije tijd. Niet per se beter geworden, wel geliefder dan de albums die het voorbij is.

- Green Day - American Idiot van #46 naar #29.
Jeugdhelden die er afgelopen jaar weer wat sympathie bij hebben gekregen. American Idiot is een meesterlijk conceptalbum dat zonder twijfel een van de landmarks van de jaren 00 is.

- The Killers - Hot Fuss van #47 naar #33.
Ik was lange tijd vergeten hoe goed ik dit debuut ook alweer vond. Uit de tijd dat The Killers nog een leuk, fris, jong bandje waren met de ene knaller na de andere.

Opvallendste dalingen:

- The Antlers - Hospice van #9 naar #23.
Een schitterend album dat ik vrijwel compleet links heb laten liggen in 2016-2017. :/ Nog steeds wel de maximale score waard; maar momenteel iets minder dierbaar dan de albums die er boven staan.

- Soap&Skin - Lovetune for Vacuum van #13 naar #25.
Laatste keer dat ik deze volledig draaide dateert al weer van augustus 2015. Dan is het simpelweg niet mogelijk om de hoge positie in stand te houden. Lijkt me een goed streven om hier komend jaar weer verandering in te brengen, want dit blijft een zeldzaam mooi debuut.

- Beirut - The Flying Club Cup
Van hetzelfde laken een pak. Ik ben de band niet compleet uit het oog verloren, maar de afgelopen jaren kom ik niet veel verder meer dan het draaien van single-favorieten.
