Een goed deejay heeft altijd oog voor wie er op de dansvloer staat.
Hoewel ik nooit een groot fan was van zijn werk (iets te vrijblijvend en te eendimensionaal),
is dit toch meer dan een behoorlijke verzameling van de talloze hits die Shaky bij elkaar zong.

Niet te doen deze Best Of om heel andere redenen deze keer. Michael Barrett brak door als vertolker van Elvis in de gelijknamige musical en ging daarna verder als Shakin' Stevens toen hij eind jaren 70 al pure rock'n'roll platen om nam met zijn toenmalige backing band.

Hoewel het merendeel van mijn favoriete nummers van hem niet op deze verzamelaar staan, zijn dit natuurlijk wel de hits... en daar heeft hij er nog al wat van gehad! Geweldige artiest die de best verkopende artiest van en in het Verenigd Koninkrijk van de jaren 80 was; daar sta ik ook nog steeds van te kijken. Hij deed het beter dan Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, etc. etc., ongelooflijk eigenlijk. Zeker omdat Shaky natuurlijk bij de rock'n'roll revival hoorde die opkwam in de 80's en niet zo zeer met de elektronische synthesizer pop meeging. Natuurlijk zijn niet alle nummers hoogstaand of muzikaal vernieuwend, maar dat hoeft ook niet; Shaky had een ongekende energie live on stage en de lol en passie spatte er van af.
