- DIIV - Skin Game --> Het duurde even, maar na een maandje draaien begint deze aardig op zijn plek te vallen. Je kan wel horen dat het leven Zachary Cole Smith niet makkelijk afgaat, maar het levert wel intrigerende muziek op.
- Big Thief - Not --> Een beetje in hetzelfde straatje. Verbeten en breekbaar gezongen. Wat een stem.
- Bat for Lashes - Feel For You --> een jaar of 10 geleden was ik helemaal weg van Bat for Lashes; daarna werd dat minder en minder en haar voorlaatste album heb ik niet eens meer beluisterd. Maar de recente singles klinken allemaal goed en ik kan me voorstellen dat dat in albumcontext nog beter wordt.
- Jenny Hval - High Alice: klinkt een beetje als een alternatieve versie van Kylie Minogue's Confide In Me met triphop/downtempo-invloeden.
- Elbow - Dexter & Sinister: hier een populaire naam, maar ik zou niet met zekerheid kunnen zeggen of ze ooit mijn lijst hebben gehaald. Maar dit nummer voelt organisch en ongedwongen en bevalt me daarom wel.
- Eefje de Visser - Lange Vinnen: Eefje heeft volgens mij alleen met Afdwaalt mijn lijst gehaald, later werk deed me nooit wat. Maar deze kwam snel binnen. Mooie elektronische sound. Ook wel tof dat ze dit samen met haar vriend maakt. Nadeel van Eefje vind ik vaak wel dat ze moeilijk te verstaan is, maar hier weet de tekst desalniettemin te boeien.

Oooh ik zie nu pas dat Björk Losss als single heeft uitgebracht! Dat wordt een hoge binnenkomst volgende week.

Geen single wil omlaag, geen één wil er verdwijnen. Met een alleraardigst aanbod zo groot, ik kan niet anders dan de lijst met 10 nummers uitbreiden.

Met de oudjes van Status Quo en O.M.D. waar dan in ieder geval enig jeugdsentiment mag meespelen. Maar dan nog mogen de singles er zijn.

Muse zet maanden na het uitbrengen van het laatste album dan nu uiteindelijk Blockades op single. Je moet er even aan wennen en door het begin heen komen. Maar daarna heb je dan ook wat.

Elbow al heel kort na Dexter & Sinister met Empires al weer een nieuwe, die eigenlijk een stuk beter is.
En verder viel mij de nieuwe single van Frank Turner dit keer erg mee.

Week 35

- Endless Lovers van The Night Café is weer een lekker poprock liedje uit de UK. Veilig en makkelijk wegluisterend, maar vooral erg lekker. Het nummer wordt gedragen door een verslavend riffje, echt prachtig gitaarspel.
- Soft Stud van Black Belt Eagle Scout is nog net geen jaar oud en mag daarom nog meedoen. Vorig jaar kon ik er niet inkomen, maar nu ben ik erg gecharmeerd van deze rauwe indierock.
- Ariel Pink komt met nieuwe single Stray Here With You, maar dit is eigenlijk een oude track die nooit is uitgebracht. Lekkere psychedelische pop zoals vanouds.
- The Murder Capital is de zoveelste postpunk band die de arena betreedt. Ik snap de hype nog niet zo goed, maar More Is Less is wel een erg fijne single. Gejaagd en schreeuwerig, echt een venijnige track.

- Van Cigarettes After Sex weet je ondertussen wat je kan verwachten maar dat maakt de muziek er niet minder fijn op, Heavenly is de eerste single van het nieuwe album dat in het najaar zal verschijnen.
- Konradsen is een duo uit Noorwegen. Television Land is een prachtige pianoballad die helemaal openbloeit op einde met toevoeging van een koor en blazers. Mooi!
- Get Lost van Queen of Jeans is een fijn indierockplaatje dat ook de fans van gitaarvrouwen als Lucy Dacus wel zou kunnen aanspreken
- Tenslotte de nieuwe single van Sasami. In de videoclip laat ze zich van haar meest destructieve kant laat zien.

Ik heb Cassia daarvoor ook al meegepikt, hun openingsnummer heeft zelfs nog in mijn weeklijst gestaan! Best tof, maar het lijkt wel in die mate op The Kooks dat ook bij hen alle nummers op elkaar lijken Strand Of Oaks nu wel erg fijn, live doet het me meer dan op plaat
