Aangezien ik dit weekend weinig tijd heb nu alvast mijn nieuwe lijst. Vorig weekend zag ik Eerie Wanda live, die is deze week ook lekker bezig in de lijst met een stijger naar 2, een nieuwe binnenkomer en een die na 9 weken wordt afgelost.
Hoogste binnenkomer is Katie Harkin, bekend geworden als zangeres van Sky Larkin waarmee ze 3 steeds beter wordende albums maakte en nu onder eigen (achter)naam verder gaat waar ze gebleven was. Heerlijke single die de Desperate Journalist liefhebbers ook wel zou kunnen aanspreken. Ik wist al dat ze solo bezig was en vorige week zette ze eindelijk nieuwe muziek online waarvan dit dan als a-kant mag worden beschouwd.
Eerie Wanda dus, nu met het titelnummer van hun 2e album. Pet Town is weer een fijn dreampop nummer.
Ook Julia Jacklin komt weer met een nieuwe en mogelijk degene die van alles wat ik van haar ken meteen het meest aanspreekt. Komt zelfs in de buurt van bv Sharaya Summers qua stijl.
Ook Jade Bird met een nummer wat me van de 3 die nu in m'n lijst hebben gestaan het meest tijd nodig heeft gehad om indruk te maken. Wat dat verder zegt weet ik nog niet.
Staat Westkust nog in de top 5, zusterband Makthaverskan (onmogelijke naam) komt nu ook binnen met hun nieuwe. De bands delen 2 heren op bas en gitaar. Waar Westkust meer echte shoegaze is zou ik Makthaverskan meer noiserock noemen.
Tape Toy kende ik al van een eerdere single, ik zag dat ze een nieuwe hadden dus opgezocht en die bevalt ook prima. Fijne pop/rock.
Over pop/rock gesproken, Krezip is terug voor een concert en daar hoort ook nieuwe muziek bij. In elk geval nu een nieuwe single, een ballad.

Lijstje van deze week. Door het stijgen van Pond en The Raconteurs is nu het hele podium uit 2019. Veel nieuwkomers, ondanks dat ik deze week nauwelijks nieuwe muziek heb geluisterd. Dus het zijn vooral nummers die al wat langer in de tiplijst staan en nu een kans krijgen door te stromen. Dat geldt voor die andere single van The Raconteurs, de single van Skating Polly (op de een of andere manier heb ik een zwak voor dat bandje, ondanks dat ik mij ook wel kan gaan irriteren aan ode stem van de zangeres en de af en toe wisselende kwaliteit (sterke en zwakke stukken) binnen de nummers) en het mij onbekende bandje Gender Roles, dat gezien de bandnaam natuurlijk niet toevallig komt met een nummer 'about her'. Verder de nieuwe Ben Howard en de nieuwe Joost wel van deze week. Ben Howard is altijd kwaliteit en Joost is natuurlijk cult en dat weet hij zelf ook; maar dit heeft zowaar hitpotentie.

Ook ik heb een spotify lijstje voor mijn top 30:

Ook deze week weer genoten van een hoop nieuwe albums. Uitspringers zijn in mijn ogen het beste album van Beirut in tijden en ook geniet ik volop van de zoete klanken van het album Olympic Girls van de Nieuw-Zeelandse groep Tiny Ruins. Daarnaast doen de nieuwe albums van Guided By Voices en Cherry Glazer het erg goed bij mij.

Qua singles was het iets rustiger, maar Andrew Bird en Stella Donnely vielen mij het meest op. Twee opkomende albums die ik zeker in de gaten ga houden.

Weer een drukke week met veel nieuwkomers.
Hand Habits houdt stand in de top 10 met placeholder terwijl haar nieuwste single de top 3 binnenstormt. Erg mooi sfeervol nummer waarvan ook de videoclip waarin ze een vampier speelt ook zeker de moeite waard is. Interessant weetje: Meg Duffy van Hand Habits heeft ook een cameo in de videoclip van Dylan Thomas van Phoebe & Connor.
Glen Hansard blijft zeer actief want er komt alweer een nieuw album waar van I'll Be You, Be Me de intense eerste single is. King Princess brengt een cover van Fiona Apple uit waarvan ze hulp krijgt van niemand minder dan Fiona zelf. Zowaar een metalsong in mijn top 30 deze week met de Belgen van Brutus, intens nummer met mooie opbouw.
Tenslotte alweer een nieuwe song van popprinses Billie Eilish, knappe productie en duistere videoclip.

* De nieuwe Vampire Weekend vond ik meteen al iets bijzonders, toch wel een band de me eigenlijk liever is dan ik me tot nog toe had gerealiseerd. Vandaag bij de popquiz in Den Bosch zei iemand dat ie het wel vond lijken op Primal Scream en inderdaad, dat eerste pianootje is wel een beetje een housepianootje. Maar het liedje heeft veel meer te bieden. Als de rest van het nieuwe album ook zo mooi word dan is het een geheide jaarlijstjeskandidaat.
* Desperate Journalists was me tot nog toe niet echt opgevallen, eigenlijk heb ik ze ook een beetje links laten liggen omdat ik dacht dat het een vervelende Interpol-kloon was, maar ik was denk ik in de war met Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Dit is hele fijne indie die herinneringen oproept aan The Sundays en Veronica Falls.
* Ibibio Sound Machine stond al regelmatig in mijn lijsten. Lekker swingende afrodisco.
* Ekkah had ooit een #1-hit bij mij, samen met Dam Funk. Homesick is zwoele dansbare pop/r&b.
* Ariana Grande heeft zich de laatste tijd opgeworpen tot één van de betere popmuzikanten van dit moment. Lekker nummer en ook een enorme oorwurm.
* Yin Yin stond van de week op IFFR waar ik 6 dagen ben geweest. Helaas heb ik hen niet gezien, maar gelukkig kan dat vast nog wel een keer want ze komen uit Nederland heb ik begrepen. Dit nummer klinkt alsof Altin Gun een cover van Donna Summer heeft opgenomen.
* Foals is een van de weinige nieuwe pure gitaarbands waar ik graag naar luister, maar met Exits bewijzen ze weer waarom. Goede stem, meeslepende groove en heerlijke melodieën. Heerlijke plaat weer.

Ha zou ik een interpol kloon op 1 zetten in mijn lijst

Nee ik denk het niet. Ik zag dat ik dit nummer van DJ vorig jaar ook al in mijn tiplijst had, maar toen heeft ie het niet gehaald. Maar in de herkansing ging het gelukkig wel leven.
