Dit is een ander argument als dat je eerst maakte, maar ook als je naar populariteit kijkt (hier op MuMe en daarbuiten), zou je verwachten dat ze er wel bij zouden staan. Niet het eind van de wereld dat het niet zo is natuurlijk, maar verrassend, vooral op een forum met een redelijk hoge indiebias.

Die populariteit buiten MuMe valt volgens mij best wel mee: http://acclaimedmusic.net/artist/The%20Antlers.htm

En ik denk dat ook binnen MuMe de fanbase van The Antlers toch redelijk beperkt is. Ik zie het in ieder geval niet echt als een heel breed gedragen klassieker. Met andere woorden: hoe goed het album scoort, is best afhankelijk van het deelnemersveld. Vandaar dat het ook 'slechts' de helft van de keren bij de best 50 00s-albums eindigde. Vergelijkbaar is Marillion (excl. Misplaced Childhood), maar die fanbase stemt dan ook heel getrouw ieder jaar.

Hm, misschien heb ik de populariteit inderdaad wat overschat.

Bescheidenheid siert de mens, zullen we maar denken en ik heb onlangs vernomen - via een zeker topic - dat er hier thans iig één echte gediplomeerde muziekkenner is en die heb ik nog nooit horen roeptoeteren over Marillion. Maar misschien kan je de aanschaf van Marillion-albums wel fiscaal compenseren of anders verwerven middels een PGB - er moet ergens iets in zitten.

De afgelopen weken nog even de tijd genomen om nog wat te beluisteren en te ontdekken. Mijn meest opvallende nieuwkomer is Nas die toch even op nummer 34 binnenkomt. Daarnaast ook eindelijk King Crimson kunnen luisteren (staan eindelijk op streaming) en zowel Rush als John Coltrane nog extra kansen gegeven. En dankzij de nieuwe Tool zijn ook hun beide albums flink omhoog geschoten. Het levert een voor mijn doen wel redelijk gevarieerd lijstje op, wat ook wel te maken heeft met de keuzelijst natuurlijk.
