week 49 van 2021 waarin Peaness het toch nog een week volhoudt op 1, naast Just Mustard (en Beach Bunny) komt er ook serieuze concurrentie van Lucy Gaffney bij. Plus dat er nog wat in de tiplijst staat wat net een dag uit is en nog een weekje mag rijpen. Wel weer 6 binnenkomers.
Perfect Blue is de 5e single van candese tweeling Softcult in mijn lijst dit jaar. Niet slecht voor een band die ook dit jaar hun 1e single uitbracht. Het recept is wel bekend, mis van dreampop en Veruca Salt achtige alt. rock. Prima.
Momma heeft net al Softcult ook 2 zangeressen en daarmee ligt een nieuwe vergelijking met Veruca Salt wel voor de hand. Voor mij de eerste kennismaking met deze band uit Californië en die bevalt erg goed.
Anorak Patch is een piepjonge band uit Engeland en passen prima in een rijtje met Coach Party en Bloxx, iets poppier misschien.
Brimheim is ook een nieuwe ontdekking; ze komen uit Denemarken en Zweden en maken het soort alt. pop/rock waar ik nooit genoeg van kan krijgen.
De debuutsingle van Sesame Girl heb ik laten schieten voor mijn lijst omdat ik die erg laat ontdekte; met de nieuwe ben ik wel op tijd. Ondanks de naam is dit toch een band, uit Australië. Muzikaal passen ze prima bij NewDad en Loupe.
Abbie Ozard is geen onbekende in mijn lijst, 2 jaar geleden in december maakte ze haar debuut en inmiddels heeft ze meerdere top 3 singles gehad. Deze nieuwe is wat experimenteler en rustiger dan de meeste, zoals de titel al aangeeft moet die groeien.

Binnen De Zestien (week 49)

Nieuw op 7: Semi-kerstsingle van Sam Fender. Staat natuurlijk ook "gewoon" op het album, maar past perfect bij de tijd van het jaar. Met Seventeen Going Under (inmiddels voor de 20e week genoteerd) stond hij al op 1, met Get You Down staat hij er nu; zou het met deze ook gaan lukken? Als het aan The War On Drugs ligt niet: voor de 3e week op rij op de tweede stek met Change; zoals de zaken er nu voorstaan, verwacht ik overigens eerder dat áls TWOD nog de koppositie pakt, dit met I Don't Live Here Anymore zal zijn.

Fai Baba draaide ik gisteren bij familie, die vonden het helemaal geweldig en bij mijzelf kwam-ie ook weer bijzonder lekker binnen, dus vandaar de opvallende stijging van Veranderet.

Nooit geweten dat onze mosterd de moeite waard is (ik hou er sowieso niet van ) maar het was in ieder geval inspiratie voor de Londense Sarah-Jane Riedel om haar band naar te vernoemen; Dutch Mustard. Ik heb dat nou heel vaak. Dan stel ik, op basis van wat zich zoal aanbiedt aan nieuwe nummers, vast wat er leuk is, wat niet en wat er zoal kan binnen komen in mijn nieuwe lijst. Dat is natuurlijk allemaal je persoonlijke perceptie.

Maar goed, dan komt er een nummer van The National voorbij. Leuk denk je dan. Toch altijd goed voor een mooie notering. Maar het passeert, het komt nog een keer voorbij. Wat een ongehoord saai nummer denk je dan, na verloop van tijd. Valt dat even tegen, vergeleken bij eerder werk van The National. Het nummer valt af.

En dan komt het. Je opent het topic om ook even door te nemen waar de andere users deze week mee komen. Niet ten onrechte, zo vond ik bij nader inzien toch nog Miranda van Frank Turner. Maar ja hoor, in heel wat lijstjes komt The National gewoon binnen. Ik ben inmiddels zover te denken dat het aan mij ligt, maar ik mis heel wat gedeelde songs aan onze gezamenlijke lijst. Gewoon omdat heel veel van die nummers bij mij al op voorhand veel eerder waren afgevallen.

Dat plus natuurlijk dat ik zelf (vermoedelijk) draken aanzie voor het betere werk en die wel in mijn lijst zet. Hoewel. Zo'n jongen (Sherlocks zanger Kiaran Crook) die in z'n eentje in de sneeuw een mooie voorstelling weggeeft om z'n song te promoten. Het lijkt haast wel Kerst.

Dat is eigenlijk toch wel veel mooier dan The National. Of zal het dan toch aan mij liggen.

Haha, wanhoop niet, musician! Er bestaat in de MuMe Afrekening gelukkig niet zoiets als een smaakpolitie. En verwar de gemiddelde smaak van de MuMeAf-inzender niet met iets even ongrijpbaars als elitairs als 'goede smaak'. De MuMe Afrekening kan jouw smaak niet bepalen; jouw smaak bepaalt (mede) de MuMe Afrekening. Ik schreef het toevallig deze week al in een ander topic: Als iedereen dezelfde muziek leuk zou vinden dan zou het hééél saai worden.
En ach, wat weten wij hier nou eigenlijk met z'n vijfentwintigen van muziek? Het zou zomaar kunnen zijn dat van die 29 miljoen Belgen en Nederlanders er zo'n 25 miljoen zijn die de nieuwe single van the National heel vreselijk vinden. Ligt het dus toch niet aan jou...

En leuk trouwens dat je Miranda hebt opgepikt. Ik neem de Sherlocks, Tribe Friday én Brkn Love van je over.
