week 27 van 2022 met eindelijk een pony op 1. Horsegirl en Pit Pony is het nog niet gelukt, Dead Pony nu wel. Overigens komt er nog een Pony binnen en heeft Pit Pony ook net een nieuwe, die is voor volgende week. Dead Pony wordt wel meteen bedreigd door Sesame Girl, Ailbhe Reddy en nog een paar sterke stijgers. Maar liefst 7 binnenkomers ook nog.
Thick heeft eerder dit jaar in m'n lijst gestaan maar haalde toen de top 30 niet eens. Dat doen ze met deze al beter, lekker punkpop plaatje.
Pony makte vorig jaar een lekker pop/rock album maar m'n weeklijst haalde ze nooit, vooral doordat ik het album pas later ontdekte. Nu wel op tijd voor de nieuwe die door Stereogum wordt vergeleken met Letters to Cleo en Bettie Serveert. Toe maar...
(Samira) Winter scoort bij mij altijd goed, haar nieuwe klinkt vertrouwd in het grensgebied tussen dreampop en shoegaze.
Brockhoff staat met haar vorige nog in de top 10, die haalde een weekje nummer 1. Dat zal lastig worden voor de nieuwe maar klinkt toch wel weer gewoon lekker, midtempo pop/rock.
Marina Tadic is na haar uitstapje met Kidbug weer terug als Eerie Wanda, de eerste nieuwe single klinkt veelbelovemd. Minder folky dan haar vorige 2 albums maar zeker interessant.
Beau scoort vaak of heel goed of (vrijwel) niet bij mij. Dit nummer is een mooie gedragen ballad, die zomaar kan groeien tot een top 10 maar ook best met 3 weken verdwenen kan zijn.
Gabrielle Aplin stond ooit op 1 bij mij met een geweldige ballad, latere nummers kwamen daar niet bij in de buurt. Bij haar nieuwe komt haar stem wel weer beter uit dan meer uptempo nummers.

Mijn lijst van vorige week mag nog een keertje mee.

Lies en Reasons to Live van Pale Waves stonden beiden in mijn tiplijst, maar wisten de top 40 niet te halen, maar met derde single Jealousy is het dan toch raak.




Er komt een documentaire aan over het nummer American Pie van Don McLean en Jade Bird kreeg de eer om haar versie van dit nummer op te nemen en dat doet ze met verve. De volgende binnenkomer is ook een cover, maar dan één waarvan ik het origineel niet ken. Voor Spotify Singles nam Snail Mail een cover op van Superdrag's 'Feeling Like I Do'. Wonderful Life van Two Door Cinema Club groeit iedere luisterbeurt nog wat en dat moet worden beloond met een plekje bij de bovenste 40. De laatste binnenkomer is voor de nieuwe single van het Belgische School Is Cool.

Goede week, vanmiddag bij het afwerken van wat klusjes even heerlijk een paar uurtjes van mijn tiplijst kunnen luisteren. Twee verse aanwinsten mogen gelijk binnenkomen:
- de nieuwe Gabe Gurnsey (1/2e Factory Floor) is weer net zo'n technopop-banger als Push. Kil en meeslepend tegelijk. Ik ga er heel goed op, maar ik ben zo te zien de enige in dit topic.
- Sandy B's Student Night is een stuk subtieler. Sandy B is een Zuidafrikaanse kwaito-producer wiens track hier wordt geremixt door de Franse producer Lion Drums. Voor wie dance ook exotisch mag zijn niet te missen denk ik. Heel fijne subtiel swingende Afrikaanse house over een acidbeat.

- Lael Naele is ook een fijne ontdekking. Mooi melancholisch liedje met een prettig krakende lo-fi productie en fijne galm. Wel iets voor de liefhebbers van de vroege Angel Olsen, voordat deze een soort alternatieve Adele.
- Ibibio Sound Machine en Joe Goddard zijn hier bij velen wel bekend na jaren hits te hebben gescoord in het alternatieve circuit. Beiden vond ik de laatste tijd wat tegenvallen, maar deze samenwerking is dan weer goud waard. Lekkere midtempo elektronische funkgroove.
- Max Richter heeft onlangs een herinterpretatie uitgebracht van Vivaldi's Vier Seizoenen en daar zijn anderen dan weer mee in de weer gegaan. Dit Spring is denk ik in welke vorm dan ook een hemels stuk.
- Mr Jukes is een soort mini-Damon Albarn, eerst doorbreken met een pop/rock-band (Bombay Bicycle Club), daarna compleet andere dingen gaan doen. Deze track met de Londonse rapper Barney Artist is heerlijk jazzy hiphop die me nog het meest aan A Tribe Called Quest doet denken.
- Le Boom heeft met Friday Night een prima single uit, die door Gabe Gurnsey netjes strak is getrokken voor de dansvloer. In eerste instantie wist ik het niet zo, het klinkt wel heel lichtvoetig, maar na een maand tipparade te hebben overleefd mag 'ie toch binnenkomen.
