week 6 van 2023. Lizzie sprintte naar 1 maar is nu alweer ingehaald door Blondshell die haar eerste nummer 1 bij mij haalt. Veronica Mars had dat eigenlijk ook wel verdiend, die staat nog steeds top 6. Ondertussen komen ook Heartworms en Steady Holiday snel omhoog maar of die direct een bedreiging worden voor de nummer 1. .. we gaan het zien. 5 binnenkomers.
Hazel Engish scoort bij mij altijd goed, deze nieuwezag ik op youtube maar kon ik eerst niet op Spotify vinden, tot ik haar EP van vorig jaar bekeek. Ja, daar staat-ie op, maar wel gewoon als nieuw behandelen natuurlijk. Heerlijk nummer in de voor Hazel bekende stijl.
Lael Neale is voor mij een nieuwe naam, was wel verrast te zien dat die bij diverse anderen ook binnenkomt. Mogelijk bij anderen al langer bekend? In elk geval een heerlijk nummer met minimale muzikale begeleiding wat het alleen maar spannnendere maakt of houdt.
Deary is een niuewe Londense band, dit is hun eerste single. Lekker, zoals de bandnaam al doet vermoeden (ja het is deary niet dreamy maar toch), dreampop nummer.
Sophia heeft een paar jaar geleden The Voice gewonnen, destijds de eerste die in de finale een zelfgeschreven nummer zong. De nieuwste single gaat een beetje de kant op van Amy Macdonald, prima dus.
Mazey Haze is terug, met haar vorige singles haalde ze mijn lijst, vaak tussen 10 en 20 gehaald. De nieuwe ligt in het verlengde van die vorige, dreampop dus.

Mijn lijst mag nog een week mee

Coach Party pakt de eer van hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer deze week en een plekje in de spotlight. Micro Agression dekt de lading behoorlijk, een kort agressief nummer van deze fijne band




De tweede binnenkomer deze week is delirious van swim school. Daughter deed er zeven jaar over om met nieuw werk te komen, maar nu lijken ze opeens haast te hebben. Amper vier weken na het uitkomen van Be on Your Way staat opvolger Party alweer klaar. Sixers is een fijn verhalend nummer van The Hold Steady die hiermee debuteren in mijn lijst. Dat doet Indigo de Souza ook met het prachtige Younger & Dumber.

- Tennis heeft volgens mij wel vaker singles uitgebracht in de vaak nog nieuwemuziekluwe eerste week van het jaar. Zo ook deze weer. Prima dreampop/indie, maar hij had wel even nodig hier.
- Electro-/houseveteraan Tiga is al een jaar of 20 een graag geziene gast op mijn playlists, al worden zijn hits bij mij wel steeds schaarser. Echt iets anders dan 10 jaar geleden doet hij ook niet, maar deze vind ik toch wel weer lekker.
- Capinera's Il Volo is een Napolitaans reggae/pop/nummer dat het vast goed doet op after parties aldaar. Capinera verwijst naar het verhaal over een bloedmooie Napolitaanse weduwe, die iedere man om haar vingers kan winden, maar er voor kiest trouw te blijven aan haar overleden echtgenoot en zich liever bezighoudt met sigarettensmokkel.
- Ik heb het niet gegoogled, maar João Selva zou zo de kleinzoon van Caetano Veloso kunnen zijn. Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) uit het boekje.
- Trans-Siberian Express is het slotstuk van de heerlijke EP die de Finse jazz/electronica/crooner-legende Jimi Tenor opnam met het Japanse Calm, in de tijd dat hij toerde in Japan. Die hele EP is goed, maar op deze mystieke dubby jazzgroove is het wel heel erg fijn 8 minuten wegzweven. De combinatie tussen het hypnotiserende orgeltje, de blazers, de subtiele percussie en Tenor himself op fluit werkt gewoon waanzinnig goed.
- Maud Geffray scoort zelfs nog iets hoger met een opgefriste versie van Ice Teens, een ouder nummer. Qua samplegebruik doet dit me eigenlijk wel wat aan Burial denken, maar dan met een midtempo house groove als basis.

Week 7 leverde 84 nieuwe tracks op, waarvan er eentje van spotify is verbannen. Maar dan resteren nog altijd vijfenhalf uren aan nieuwe muziek: Tips MuMeAfrekening week 7.

Bij het beluisteren van The Ride, het nieuwste album van DAAN, liet 16 Men niet bepaald een blijvende indruk na. Snel vergeten. Wrong! Enkele weken later herhaalt die hook zich eindeloos in de bovenkamer. En nu werd het ook nog eens als single gelost. Arsenal is een vibe, gelijkaardig aan enkele van hun grootste hits. Me like. Eén van de Nieuwe Lichting winnaars bij StuBru was Jack Vamp en z'n creepy kasteel, langzaamaan begrijp ik waarom. Al blijft LeBlanc met BOOS mijn favoriet van de 2023-editie.

Erg onder de indruk van de deze week vrijgegeven song How to replace it van dEUS. De Belgische superband op leeftijd heeft werkelijk alles uit de kast gehaald lijkt het. Het gaat dan wel weer ten koste van de net uitgebrachte 1989. Het is altijd hetzelfde, had nog even een paar weken gewacht met deze fabelachtige single!

Enfin, het werd zowaar een akoestisch weekje, met de Hunna en Beck. Zo ver terug als alleen man met gitaar als Beck gaat The Hunna dan nog niet. De Hunna vlamt binnen de mogelijkheden nog behoorlijk, de geluidskwaliteit is geweldig en zanger Ryan Potter zingt mooi engelachtig.

Bilk rockt fraai en The Hara heeft ook weer eens een weirde single. Enfin, hopelijk groeit het nog enigszins door. Er is teveel goede muziek om er te lang bij stil te staan.
