- ØKSE (Deens voor "bijl") is een nieuw project dat klinkt als een soort breakbeat-jazz. billy woods weet hier vloeiend overheen te rappen over een naar racisme riekende douanecontrole.
- Het Congolese Fulu Miziki ("muziek uit afval") komt uit dezelfde scene als KOKOKO! en heeft een vergelijkbare afropunk-vibe. Ze hebben twee toffe singles uitgebracht binnen korte tijd.
- Mark Lotterman is een mooie tip van herman. Ik ben nooit de grootste fan van Lucky Fonz geweest, dus grote kans dat ik dit anders nooit had ontdekt, maar hier is zijn bijdrage de kers op de taart.
- Tenslotte alweer een nieuwe van Nilüfer Yanya. Deze is ingetogener dan de vorige singles en leunt zwaar op haar stem. Gelukkig is dit één van mijn favoriete stemmen uit de hedendaagse indie.

Van zowel Billie Eilish als Låpsley komen twee prachtige emotionele liedjes binnen die al wekenlang onder de huid aan het kruipen zijn.

Alberta Balsam vind ik vaak net wat te weinig eigen identiteit missen en heel erg een Aphex-copycat (goh) maar dit is toch wel een erg lekker nummer dat blijft hangen.

De laatste tijd is Mexicaanse muziek wereldwijd erg populair geworden met als grote ster Peso Pluma. Zijn stem is wat knauwerig maar wel karaktervol maar tot nu toe deed zijn muziek het nog niet helemaal voor me. Vino Tinto heeft echter de juiste geldingsdrang en trekt me over de streep. Traditionele gitaar en blazers in een modern jasje.

week 28 van 2024 waarin Better Joy eindelijk op 1 staat en daar vast wel een poosje blijft. Linn naar 2 waar ze ook niet direct weg zal zijn denk ik en 3-6 blijven deze week staan. Het blijft dringen. Ook weer 5 binnenkomers, uit 4 verschillende landen.
Pony, uit Canada is een van de vele bands in het grijze gebied tussen dreampop en shoegaze en heeft al regelmatig in mijn lijst gestaan. De nieuwe single klinkt behoorlijk poppy, heerlijk.
Edie uit Australie heeft nog niet eerder in m'n lijst gestaan al ken ik haar blijkbaar wel al wat langer. Prima poprock helemaal in mijn straatje.
Soot Sprite uit Exeter is een nieuwe naam voor mij maar klinken meteen interessant, postpunk, pop/rock, gaat vast nog veel hoger komen (als er ruimte komt)
Blush Always uit Duitsland heb ik leren kennen via Brockhoff, hun duet stond eerder jaar ook in m'n lijst. Gruizig pop/rock plaatje.

Afgelopen dagen heel erg druk geweest en duidelijk aan vakantie toe. Ik weet niet of het daardoor komt, maar ineens komen er 5 indie/gitaarplaten bij mij binnen. Dat gebeurde vroeger wel vaker, maar tegenwoordig is het een unicum.

Hoogste nieuwe is voor het Rotterdamse Neighbours Burning Neighbours, dat over 2 maanden zijn nieuwe album laat horen in Roodkapje. De vorige single is langs me heen gegaan, maar als deze noisy post-punk maatgevend is, mag ik dat eigenlijk niet missen. Heerlijke bak lawaai, doet me in de verte wel wat denken aan de lawaaierige Sonic Youth van albums als Evol en Bad Moon Rising.

Maxim Ludwig is voor mij een compleet nieuwe naam, maar samen met Angel Olsen heeft hij een fraai country-esque duet op plaat gezet. Lekker dramatisch en licht rammelend.

Snõõper razendsnelle On Line is misschien wel de kortste single die ooit mijn lijst haalde (na 1:14 zit het er alweer op), maar ik vind het desondanks heerlijk aanstekelijk. Eggpunk ("Originated in the early 2010s; features lo-fi production, eccentric lyrics, quick tempos, nasally vocals, and cheap keyboard sounds.") is blijkbaar het genre. Ik ga alsnog dat album van vorig jaar nog eens opzoeken, want dit smaakt naar meer.

Hoewel CMAT verwijst naar de initialen van de Ierse Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, vind ik het toch een misleidende en slechte artiestennaam. Wie verwacht hier nou mooie meeslepende alt-country? Toch is dat het. Ook wel iets voor liefhebbers van Sharon van Etten denk ik.

Club 8 is een Zweeds indiepopgezelschap dat al even meedraait (opgericht in 1995), maar dat ik dit jaar meer heb beluisterd dan ooit. Dit is ook weer een fijn plaatje met dromerige zang en gitaren.
