Maar het klopt wel, want ook spotify wist te melden dat mijn song van het jaar 105x beluisterd is.
Of juist het omgekeerde. Mijn bijdrage aan die lijst heeft gewoon 12 miljoen plays op YouTube. Alhoewel dat extreem laag is voor de betreffende artiesten dus wellicht toch onbegrepen.
Reggaeton die te eigenzinnig is voor de mainstream maar nog steeds te reggaeton voor dit topic.

• Destroyer's Bologna doet denken aan de reggae-pop uit de beginjaren ’80, à la Grace Jones. Het zou me niets verbazen als met name de zanglijn een referentie is naar een van haar hits, Dan Bejar is wel van de leeftijd voor wie die hits jeugdsentiment kunnen zijn. Het nummer is verder rijk en diep geproduceerd, met rondzoemende dubbassen en allerlei elektronische elementen. Hoewel sommige singles nog niet helemaal op hun plaats vallen, ben ik ontzettend benieuwd naar het nieuwe album.
• Danny Wolfers, beter bekend als Legowelt uit Den Haag, brengt al ruim 25 jaar zijn unieke electro-sound aan de man in danceland. De constante stroom aan releases is soms moeilijk bij te houden, maar af en toe stuit ik op een pareltje dat altijd weer weet te verrassen – en deze track knalt er zeker op los.
• Ruim een half jaar na Always a Stranger (een van de grootste hits in mijn lijst in 2024) komt Tindersticks dan eindelijk met een welverdiende opvolger. Zoals je mag verwachten, biedt de track kamermuziek in een laag tempo met een vleugje soul en een mespuntje electronica, compleet met uiteraard de diepe bariton van Stuart Staples. Ik ga ze binnenkort in de Royal Albert Hall live zien, waar ik erg naar uitkijk.
• Flora Hibberd is een in Parijs gevestigde Engelse indiefolkzangeres. Met Code presenteert ze een lief, ingetogen nummer dat vast in de smaak valt bij liefhebbers van bv. Nadia Reid en The Weather Station.
• Uit Stuttgart komt Zimmer90, een band die duidelijk heeft geluisterd naar de rustige nummers van Hot Chip. Hun muziek is een fijne mix van elektronische en organische elementen. En het geheel is eigenlijk ook best wel toegankelijk en hitgevoelig, dus wie weet gaan we nog meer horen van deze heren.
