En inmiddels zijn we al onderweg met 6 nieuwe tracks in week 2: tips MuMeAfrekening week 2

Een nieuw jaar, een nieuwe MuMeAfrekening, en we gaan door waar we eind vorig jaar gebleven waren. Suede zit inmiddels érg sterk in het zadel, met een puntenvoorsprong van 50% op de directe achtervolger. Verderop komt Björk lekker hoog binnen, en zien we drie tracks naar de top 10 toe stijgen. Het Zesde Metaal doet dat met een toepasselijke titel, het is een schrikkeljaar dit jaar. Kortom:

NEW:
6. Björk - Oral (ft. Rosalía)
Een terugkerende yeahyeahyeah (ook al eens een paar maanden deelnemer in het allereerste bestaansjaar van deze lijst) drukt meteen een stempel op de MuMeAfrekening: Björk en Rosalía klepperen ineens binnen op plaats 6. Björk nam het nummer 'Oral' twee decennia geleden al op, maar vond het toen niet op haar albums passen, waarna het op de plank kwam te liggen. Daar kwam Björk het vorig jaar weer tegen en ze besloot het uit de mottenballen te halen. Op de afgestofte 'Oral' is nu niet alleen de IJslandse zangeres te horen; de Spaanse Rosalía voegde haar vocalen aan het nummer toe. Björk is de laatste jaren even oorspronkelijk als ontoegankelijk, maar 'Oral' pakt weer even terug naar de tijd dat ze ook prima popliedjes kon schrijven, die toch bijzonder waren.

25. Subjoi - No More
Geboren in de Poolse hoofdstad Warschau, maar inmiddels getogen in het Australische Adelaide, dat is electro/house-producer Jakub Fidos, alias Subjoi. De single 'No More' stamt alweer van afgelopen augustus; hoog tijd dus dat ie z'n entree maakt. Misschien hebben we er een tijdje aan moeten wennen, of misschien glipt Subjoi handig tussen de herhalingslijstjes van de kerstvakantie door, maar desalniettemin is 'No more' gewoon een dancetrack die er mag zijn; een echte banger!

27. Red Rum Club - Godless
Drie albums hebben ze al op hun naam staan en het vierde is in aantocht, dus heel mooi dat dit zestal uit Liverpool ook hier een beetje bekender raakt. En dat doen ze via de single 'Godless'. De Red Rum Club, want daar gaat het over, bestaat al een jaar of acht. De leden van de band kwamen elkaar toevallig tegen in een Liverpoolse pub en besloten samen muziek te gaan maken. 29. Middle Kids - Bend
We gaan weer even terug naar Australië en komen nu uit in Sydney, want daar bivakkeren de altrockers Middle Kids. 'Bend' is de nieuwste single van hun toekomstige album 'Faith crisis pt 1', dat volgende maand gaat verschijnen; hun derde worp liedjes gaat dat worden. En zo te zien aan de clip gaat er binnenkort nog wel meer geworpen worden ten huize van zangeres Hannah Joy; ik zie daar iets wat lijkt op toekomstige gezinsuitbreiding.

Courting is Indie rock band uit Liverpool en past in een rijtje van Noord Engelse gitaarbands die echt buiten lijntjes durven te kleuren. (English Teacher & The Lounge Society). Deze nieuwe single ‘Emily G’ is bewijs. Niet op safe spelen is het devise, maar bewust tegen het randje aan met desonante noise, vage koortjes en vervormde gitaarpliepjes..
