week 39 van 2024 waarin in de top niet heel veel gebeurd, al stijgt Kit Sebastian wel lekker door en verder in de top 10 ook Slowwves.Zo staat er 2x Thailand in de top 10 (en 1x estland en 1x turkse zang)
De hoogste binnenkomer van nu komt gewoon uit NYC en doet me denken aan sonic youth en de vroege blonde redhead. Lekkere noisy rock dus.
Bluesomn is dan wel weer wat bijzonders, een band uit Mexico al hoor je daar qua muziek niks van. The Knee-Hi's zo'n bandnaam maakt meteen nieuwsgierig. Verslavend; bij hun oudere nummers zitten nog beter maar de nieuwste komt nu binnen. Dan nog 2 oudgedienden, hoewel wel een paar decennia verschi. Suzanne Vega heeft al sinds de 90s niet in m'n lijst gestaan en El Tee nog maar een paar jaar geleden met een aantal nummers van haar solodebuut.

Binnen De Lijntjes 28/09/2024

Afgelopen vrijdag mocht ik weer de Catch 22 op Orinoco Radio presenteren; zo'n uitzending (en de voorbereiding daarvan) heeft ook invloed op mijn Afrekening deze week. Zo is daar Teddy Swims, best wel een glad en een gelikt nummer, maar ook eentje die je blijft draaien.
Zo Lief is een Brits-Nederlands duo en deelnemer aan de Popronde; ik hoorde het bij een collega-DJ en draaide deze aanstekelijke pop meteen ook in mijn eigen uitzending.
Aanstekelijkheid is ook van toepassing op Future Islands, het is allemaal niet bijster spannend en origineel maar het luistert zo lekker weg.
Ik heb geen enkel festival bezocht deze zomer, maar met Jungle By Night (dat een uitstekend nieuw album heeft) met Sef én hartsvriendinnen S10 en Froukje komen twee anthems alsnog voorbij, hetzij dan gewoon via de speakers.
En ergens daartussen zweeft de nieuwe single van The Cure; al meerdere malen op de koptelefoon gehad en bij elke luisterbeurt denk je "ik moet Disintegration weer eens opzetten".

Sander’s Top 100 – Week 40
Deze week brengt weer een golf aan verrassingen en een aantal indrukwekkende sprongen in de hitlijst! Met oude favorieten die terugkomen en nieuwe nummers die binnenstormen, blijft het een spannend muzikaal avontuur.

Op nummer 1 deze week staat Chappell Roan met "Kaleidoscope", die de eerste plek opnieuw verovert nadat het nummer de afgelopen weken steeds dichterbij kwam. Dit is niet de eerste keer dat Chappell Roan de top van je hitlijst bereikt; eerder stond ze al op nummer 1 met "Good Luck, Babe!", wat haar duidelijk een sterke en populaire artiest in je lijst maakt. Op nummer 2 zakt Billie Eilish met "WILDFLOWER", een nummer dat al eerder op de eerste plek stond, maar deze week de troon moet afstaan aan Chappell Roan.

Billie Eilish blijft echter ook domineren met "Birds Of A Feather", dat al 12 weken in de lijst staat en eerder zelfs de tweede plek bereikte. Ze doet het goed met meerdere nummers in de lijst, waaronder een samenwerking met Charli XCX op "Guess" (nummer 11), die ook deze week een paar plekken omhoog schiet.

Een opvallende stijger is Tears For Fears met "The Girl That I Call Home", die in één week een sprong maakt van plek 83 naar 15. Een comeback van formaat, en dit laat zien dat klassieke bands nog steeds veel impact kunnen hebben op moderne hitlijsten.

De iconische band Blur maakt met meerdere live-uitvoeringen indruk in de lijst. Hun optreden in Wembley Stadium heeft duidelijk iets losgemaakt, met "Beetlebum" (21), "Parklife" (25), en "Song 2" (45) die allemaal nieuw leven krijgen door hun energieke live-uitvoeringen. Het lijkt erop dat Blur's Wembley-show een feest van nostalgie en nieuwe energie was!

Chappell Roan is deze week extra goed vertegenwoordigd, want naast haar nummer 1-hit "Kaleidoscope", staat ze ook op plek 3 met "Good Luck, Babe!". Daarnaast verovert ze langzaam maar zeker haar plek in de top 10 met "Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl" (nummer 12). De combinatie van frisse popklanken en haar unieke stijl lijkt aan te slaan.

Verder is er een indrukwekkend aantal nieuwe binnenkomers, waaronder Tiësto & Swimming Paul met hun rave anthem "VHS RAVE" op nummer 86 en Kylie Minogue's "Lights Camera Action" op nummer 88. De elektronische vibes komen sterk terug deze week, wat laat zien dat dansmuziek nog steeds stevig verankerd is in je smaak.

De Chart Breaker van deze week is een opvallende: Gavin Friday met "Ecco Homo" maakt een indrukwekkende sprong van 90 naar 26. Dit nummer wint snel aan populariteit en lijkt hard op weg om de hogere regionen van je hitlijst te bereiken. Gavin Friday, bekend van zijn unieke stijl en artistieke uitspattingen, brengt iets bijzonders naar de lijst.

Feitje van de week: Wist je dat Oasis met maar liefst 6 nummers in je lijst staat deze week, waarvan "Don't Look Back In Anger" al eens de nummer 1-plek heeft bereikt? Dit laat zien dat hun muziek, zelfs na al die jaren, nog steeds relevant blijft.

Kortom, week 40 is een mix van klassiekers en opkomende artiesten die samen zorgen voor een mooie balans tussen nostalgie en nieuwe klanken. De komende weken beloven alleen maar meer verrassingen!

Net terug van vakantie, maar toch al een aantal nieuwe nummers kunnen beluisteren waarbij Jungle By Night en Young Marco er voor mij uitsprongen. De nieuwe Classixx was mij ontgaan, maar ik zag 'm gelukkig in het lijstje van herman staan. Mag zeker niet ontbreken in mijn lijst. Leuk nummer. Bij Ocotillo van Floating Points is nu eindelijk het kwartje gevallen en die komt meteen als hoogste binnen.

Lang weekend weggeweest, dus mijn lijst niet afgedraaid (doe ik meestal zondag/maandag). Wel wat nieuw spul:
- Het Mexicaanse Sonido Gallo Negro gooit er een heerlijke cumbia-kraker tegenaan, inclusief over the top hammondorgel, een elektronisch getinte break en een fijne climax met theremin-achtige geluiden erin. Een plaat om vrolijk van te worden.
- Canada en in het bijzonder Montréal was een plaats waar eind jaren '90/jaren '00 mijn interesse wel naar uitging. Rondom de scenes van Godspeed You Black Emperor!/A Silver Mt. Zion en Arcade Fire/Bell Orchestre gebeurden veel interessante dingen. De laatste jaren is het vooral violiste Sarah Neufeld die mijn aandacht trekt met schitterende moderne klassieke muziek. Nu brengt zij samen met 2 muzikale vrienden uit bovengenoemde scenes Slow New Year uit, de opener van een in november te verschijnen album. Het is allemaal weer zeer fraai. Ben heel benieuwd naar die plaat. Kon net als Detritus weer eens jaarlijstjesmateriaal worden.
- Lucie Antunes zei me helemaal niets, maar via deze Michael Mayer remix alsnog op het spoor gekomen. Blijkbaar is zij klassiek geschoold drummer en percussioniste in allerlei bands en bracht zij vorig jaar een licht experimenteel art-pop album uit. Hoho daarvan heeft van het Kompakt-opperhoofd een subtiele techno treatment gekregen, waardoor het een heerlijk psychedelische Holden-vibe heeft gekregen. Het origineel is iets minder subtiel, maar zeker zo bijzonder. Wellicht dat die ook nog wel eens binnenkomt ergens de komende weken.
- Snail Mail scoorde ooit een forse hit bij mij met The 2nd Most Beautiful Girl in the World, een cover van de Britse twee/indieband Courtney Love (niet te verwarren met de zangeres die later bekend werd met Hole). Haar eigen nummers vind ik ook zeker wel sympathiek, maar het is toch weer met een cover dat ze hier scoren. Tonight, Tonight is voor mij dik jeugdsentiment (Smashing Pumpkins was als 15-jarige mijn favoriete band) en deze cover vind ik enorm geslaagd. Meestal vind ik covers hooguit 1 of 2 keer horen leuk, maar deze heeft voor mij wel een lange houdbaarheid.
- Confidence Man blijft toffe 90s retrohouse maken. Het is wel een beetje een trucje aan het worden, maar het is knap gedaan.
- Thurston Moore is ook alweer 66 zie ik, maar blijft relevant. Dit 'The Diver' is een fijne lange lome dromerige track waarin het heerlijk wegmijmeren is.
