Hoewel de hele top 6 ten opzichte van vorige week punten verliest doet dat helemaal niets aan de ranking volgorde. De boel zit muurvast, maar vanuit de Backseat komt Balu Brigada wel pos 7 versterken. En stoomt Tame Impala door naar pos11.
Bij de new entry’s: 2 Amerikaanse rockbands die hun roem creëerde in de nineties, maar blijkbaar nog steeds actueel kunnen zijn. Daarnaast ook 2 electro nieuwelingen en een echte hip-Hop er. NIEUW in de Afrekening :

22. Ninajirachi - Infohazard
Nina Wilson komt uit Australië en is geboren eind 1999, ze mag dus met trots een Generatie Z-er genoemd worden. Begin deze maand kwam een heel album uit van deze DJ en producer met als titel “I Love my Computer”. En een van de tracks heet “i Wanne Fuck my Computer”. Besef nu ook dat dat ongecensureerd letterlijk kan of figuurlijk. “Cause no one in the world knows me better”

25. Factory Floor - Tell Me
Terug naar London voor een electronic duo, dat in wisselende samenstellingen toch al zn 15 jaar samen is en nu pas hun 1ste Afrekening-shit hebben. Omschreven als een combi van Synths en Noise, waar ook wel de term post-industrial op geplakt word. Zag op Youtube een live registratie waar een echte drummer op het podium zit en waar’t voor het podium een dolle boel is. Dus waarom Factory Floor niet vindbaar is in de line-up van een festival deze zomer is eigenlijk onbegrijpbaar.

27. Clipse - So Be It
Een HipHop track in de afrekening blijft altijd bijzonders, maar google maakt duidelijk waarom deze track de selectie haalt. Clipse kan je ook de Thornton brothers noemen, en Terrence & Gene Thornton hadden een tijdje een Fittie , maar de ruzie is bijgelegd en resulteerde in een nieuw album, waar een hele rij bekende namen een bijdrage aan wilde leveren zoals John Legend en Kendrick Lamar. Lenny Kravitz & Stevie Wonder zijn te horen in achtergrond koortjes. En niemand minder dan Pharrell Williams deed de productie. De kern van So Be It is een sample, van oorworm proportie, oorspronkelijk van de Saoedi-Arabische muzikant Talal Maddah, nergens vernoemd in de credits, maar bij deze is dat recht gezet.

19. Nine Inch Nails - As Alive As You Need Me To Be
Nine Inch Nails is meer een collectief rond producer Trent Reznor dan een klassieke rockband. Al vanaf 1989 actief, maar dit is pas zijn 2de notering in DE lijst en daar zit dan ook nog eens 8 jaar tussen. Wel deze weeks hoogste nieuweling.
Dit is geen aankondiging van een nieuw album, maar het is de keysong van de soundtrack bij de 3de TRON film “Ares” en die zal de beelden op zeker verder opstuwen. De vorige TRON film werd muzikaal bijgestaan door Daft Punk en als vervolg is de electro rock van N.I.N de gedroomde soundtrack.

30. Foo Fighters - Today's Song
Dit is al de 8de Afrekenings entry van FooFighters, met als hoogtepunt de pos 3 voor ‘Rescued’ van 2 jaar her. Vandaag is Dave Grohl nog steeds op zoek naar een vaste drummer, na het overlijden van Taylor Hawkins, en de constatering dat er met Josh Freese geen klik kwam. Dan maar een weemoedige Ode aan Taylor verpakt in een song. Willeswaar met een ingetogen intro maar al binnen de minuut is daarna de bekende geluidsmuur terug. Aangekondigd door een paar krachtige drumslagen. En wie de drums hier bestierd, dat is een goed bewaard geheim. Zouden zo maar AI gegenereerde klappen kunnen zijn, op basis van studio left-over’s van Taylor zelf. Dat zou toch mooi zijn.

Bruce Springsteen heeft de perfecte opvolger voor Sunday love, Late in the evening zit in dezelfde muzikale hoek. Een beetje van dat orkestrale. We zijn dat niet gewend van Bruce maar het biedt weer eens hele nieuwe kansen. Ik weet niet uit welke periode deze nummers van zijn carriere komen.

Dan mooie opvolgers maar degelijke eigen kwaliteit van The K's, Deftones, Bush, Foo Fighters en zelfs weer eens Jake Bugg.

Dan wat ongewone nummers maar wel aardig, het is een kwestie van even wennen. Kolbak is dan nog te overzien. Slothrust heeft even tijd nodig en voor de Balancing Act denk ik eigenlijk dat meer mensen daar voor voelen.
Als ze het nummer zouden horen.
Het is haast een soort van zomers theater maar het proeft uiteindelijk als een soort van ijs aan het strand met af en toe een zandkorreltje er tussen. Erg aardig, ik had nog nooit van de band gehoord.

Vaak ben ik al blij als ik een geschikte nummer 1 heb, maar deze week was er een heftig gevecht om de toppositie, en Bruce heeft (voorlopig) weer gewonnen. Maar Eos is nog niet verslagen!

De hoogste nieuwe is voor de radio-edit van het eigenlijk ruim 22 minuten lange epos The unknown door van IQ. Voor de fans vloeken in de kerk, maar voor mij wel prettig, een behapbare 5 minuten.

En Deftones komt al met een tweede single, hopelijk wat sterker dan de eerste, die alweer op de weg terug is.

week 33 van 2025 met nog steeds ongewijzigde top 2, al de 4e week. Daaronder gaan Grocery Bag en Chloe Parché wel wat aandringen maar ik zie die niet snel nog verder omhoog gaan.Daarbij ook rekening houdend met de binnenkomers en andere stijgers daaronder zoals Stone Sober, Wisp en Voyeur.
Voyeur heeft dit jaar al eerder in m'n lijst gestaan met het sonic youth achtige Eyes Full of Tears, net als SY wisselen ze man/vrouw zang af waardoor bij de nieuwe single een mannenstem te horen is. Muzikaal nog wel SY maar ook qotsa komt erg duidelijk als invloed door, heerlijk nummer hoedanook.
Just Mustard staat met de vorige net niet meer top 10, zal niet lang duren voor hun nieuwe daar wel in staat. Weer een Cranes achig noisy song al is het minder in your face dan de vorige en zeker dan oudere nummers als October en Frank.
Francie Moon uit NYC is een nieuwe naam voor mij, doet me denken aan de begintijd van Holly Golightly en April March, prima dus.
Winter verdwijnt net met haar vorige - na 12 weken maar toch voelt het as te vroeg - maar komt nu met haar nieuwe, dit keer samen met Tanukichan die vorig jaar al een paar keer mijn lijst heeft gehaald. Dreampop met shoegaze invloeden zoals we van beide gewend zijn.
Swim School en Snooper ook weer met nieuwe die laten horen wat je mag verwachten.
Melt is ook nog een nieuwe naam, ook uit NYC met een lekker opbouwend nummer dat toch veel te goed wordt om te negeren. Ik denk ook wel iets voor Hiqpy liefhebbers.
