Inderdaad, mijn lijstje was ook één van de eersten hier.. heb maar één rockplaatje in mijn top20. Vind het bewonderingswaardig hoe al die users aan 20 rockalbums komen

Arcade Fire - Burial draai ik een stuk vaker; en ik tel ook mee dat ik maar 1 album per band erin zet;en het is ook een beetje een 'strategische' stem. 2006 (6) en 2007 (4 albums) waren imo de topjaren. Weinig jazz, wat meer electronic en ondertussen zijn er nog aardig wat zangeressen afgevallen (Joni Mitchell - Travelogue; Ricki Lee Jones - Duchess of Coolesville), net als wat 'modern gitaar' (om maar een verzamelwoord te gebruiken): GEEN Interpol, Editors, Kooks, ook geen neo-shoegaze (The Big Pink) en geen neo-alt (The National, Elbow). Ook afgevallen: Irezumi - Endurance, Martyn - Great Lengths (beide op het nippertje) en Amon Tobin - Foley Room (te weinig draaitijd).

Toptien moet ik weer eens naar kijken.

Wat is er strategisch aan? Zowel de nummer 1 als de nummer 2 krijgen 7 punten.

Ik vind Mescalito en in heel ietsjes mindere mate Roadhouse Sun topplaten (4,5*). Junky Star vind ik ietwat tegenvallend vergeleken bij die twee (3,5*). Kan me haast niet voorstellen dat een nummer als 'Southside of Heaven' je niet bevalt, maar misschien dat hij soms net iets té veel country is?

't is toch wel één van m'n favo artiesten, en hij staat zeker in mijn top vijf van favoriete zangers.

Da's één ding - daarover zou je kunnen dimdammen - bij de wave-topics hebben we nl de eurovisie-puntendeling gevolgd (12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 - voor een toptien).

Wist je trouwens dat de drummer en gitarist rijdend in hun auto en luisterend naar Marillion besloten samen een band te vormen? En dat dit later Riverside werd? Dus ergens zijn ze meer beinvloedt door Marillion dan je op het eerste gehoor zou denken. Ook al vond een vriend van mij dat van begin af aan te horen in de composities ....

Zo ver heb ik niet gekeken, heb gewoon mijn lijst gemaakt.

De albums in mijn lijst zitten zo dicht bij elkaar dat ik om die reden heb gekozen een 2e album van een artiest eruit te halen (hoe goed ik die ook vind). Ik mag er helaas maar 20 plaatsen
Zo kwam ik er zojuist achter dat ik het briljante The Crane Wife van The Decemberists over het hoofd had gezien bij het maken van de lijst. Stom, maar ik ga niet voor de 2e keer de lijst aanpassen en jou irriteren daarmee. Pech voor The Decemberists.

Hij is natuurlijk niet slecht en ook 'Southside Of Heaven' is best aan te horen, maar ondanks zijn goede stem vind ik het allemaal niet echt opvallend (of goed genoeg om een hele plaat aan te schaffen).

Wie weet komt hij in de toekomst met meer songs die me wel wat doen, maar voorlopig luister ik liever naar Steve Earle of John Mellencamp.

Maar hier dien je een top 20 in en met die puntentelling zou een album dat eenmaal op 1 genoemd wordt meer punten hebben dan een album dat 11 keer op 10 genoemd wordt. Dat vind ik niet de bedoeling. Enfin, deze puntentelling is er al 5 edities lang en staat niet echt ter discussie.

Ja, dat vraag ik me er dus af. Daar de nummer 1 en 2 hetzelfde aantal punten krijgen, maakt het niet echt uit. Je zou wellicht een album op 1 kunnen zetten, zodat het meer opvalt (nummers 1 krijgen logischerwijs meer aandacht dan nummers 2 - lees: vallen meer op), maar Funeral lijkt me niet echt een album dat de aandacht nodig heeft.
