Even een praktische vraag: hoe hebben jullie de lijst opgesteld? Uit m'n hoofd ga ik vast weer albums vergeten. Kan evt. een lijstje bijhouden en deze pas later posten om dit zoveel mogelijk tegen te gaan.

Wil graag zo goed mogelijk meedoen, maar om al m'n stemmen, albumlijsten en digitale muziek door te spitten gaat wat ver.

Ik heb een lijstje aangemaakt in Excel, en als ik weer eens wat interessants vind, dan voeg ik het toe, en op basis van die lijst stel ik een definitieve top 20 samen. En Stijn, ik denk dat je kunt proberen wat je wil, maar uiteindelijk zal er altijd wel een plaat zijn die door de mazen van het net glipt, en waarvan je, nadat je ze hebt zien pronken in andermans lijstje, luidop vloekt: "Drommels, hoe kan ik die nou vergeten?". Ik ken het gevoel.

Gewoon mijn stemmen doorgespit. Bij de 4,5*-albums niet te moeilijk gedaan en er redelijk snel doorheen gegaan.

Hopen dus dat ik aan twintig debuutalbums kom tussen m'n 4,5* en 5* albums (die geef ik niet zo vaak). Bij vorige edities moest ik vaak ook die hele waslijst aan 4* albums doorspitten.

LOL, het nadeel van veel stemmen hebben

Deels omdat ik dit soort lijstjes altijd veel te serieus neem, en deels om de keuze makkelijker te maken houd ik me nogal letterlijk aan het begrip 'debuut'. Ik ga dus niet het debuut van Gram Parsons én het debuut van de Flying Burrito Brothers nomineren. Dan kies ik gewoon de beste van de twee. David Crosby vormt de uitzondering, maar de machtsverhoudingen lagen in de Byrds/CSNY anders (plus 't is een top 10 album).

Meteen nog maar even opbiechten dat ik niet elk uit genre evenveel debuutalbums ken, en dan is 'ie hier dan:

Ik geloof dat de eerste 17 uit m'n lijstje uit m'n 5* stemmen komen, en dat zijn er niet zo heel veel. Daarna de beste debuten uit de 4,5* categorie gepakt en daar een top 3 van gemaakt voor de uiteindelijke nummer 18, 19 en 20.

Zowaar 6 overeenkomsten met herr Herman. In eerste instantie zelfs 7 aangezien Television op plek 20 stond, maar toen ontdekte ik dat ik Portishead's debuut over het hoofd gezien had...

Tja, als we zo beginnen, wil ik ook nog wel een paar 'echte' debuten in mijn lijst opnemen ten koste van de 4*-platen die nu onderin staan.

Enerzijds begrijp ik het wel, anderzijds is het natuurlijk wel feitelijk het debuut dat officieel is verschenen. Moeilijk, want waar ga je de grens trekken (als er meer voorbeelden blijken te zijn)?

Volgens mij valt het wel per keer te bekijken. Het lijkt me vrij logisch dat Unknown Pleasure en Debut als debuutplaten tellen. Warsaw was pas in 1994 officieel uitgebracht en An Ideal for Living was een EP. Tussen de kinderplaat van Bjork en Debut zit zo'n verschil in tijd en context dat je eigenlijk niet kan spreken van dezelfde artiesten.

Volgens mij hebben we daar in dit geval een vrij helder criterium voor: het eerste album in het rijtje "Reguliere albums". Dus jammer voor Björk en niet jammer voor Joy Division...
